Should I play shantae 1 and 2 or just go straight to pirate's curse?
>>321788395
Do whatever you want but if you play Pirate's Curse first don't expect to enjoy the others.
The first game hasn't aged well, it's clunky as shit. Having said that, Pirate's Curse is the only one that's not particularly clunky.
HGH will probably be good when it's finally released.
It doesn't really matter. Pirate's Curse is definitely the best one, but the other two can be fun despite their flaws.
You can skip to SatPC, but it'll make playing the previous two (especially the original) harder since each title improves the mechanics and fluidity from the previous one.
If you mean the story, then 2 is kinda required to understand everything.
play the GBC one as long as you can. read a summary of risky's revenge. play pirate's curse.
>>321788859
"Clunky" isn't really the right word IMO. The controls are as responsive as any GBC game. It's the fact that the screen is so small that you can't see threats until they are on top of you, or that the difficulty curve is off because of how powerful you get mid to late game.
>>321789571
Meh, Risky's Revenge is worth a couple bucks. You could probably find it for as much on a Steam sale. It is still largely forgettable though.
>>321788395
Yes, you definitely should play them all, in release order.
I played through the whole trilogy myself just a month ago, and had helluva blast.
IMO, P.C > Shantae > R.R., but none of them are bad.
Start with pirates curse then play riskys revenge.
>>321788395
The GBC game is fine. Its great for a GBC game. RR is meh. You can play it but its extremely short. PC is the best indeed.
So, play all of them. You will enjoy it.
>>321788859
>The first game hasn't aged well, it's clunky as shit.
didn't find it clunky at all. Oldschool hard at times, definitely, but not clunky. Emulated it on PC.
What comes to Risky's Revenge, it's neat and all, but short. It could be considered as the Pirate's Curse's prologue.
For the price the games are going for at the moment, they're well worth it.
>>321791407
How long is the first one? Does it have the plane mechanic from rr?
>>321791895
4-5 hours if you ignore most of the collectibles.
>>321791204
That's stupid, he should playing RR FIRST
>>321791895
>How long is the first one?
Took me a week. I take things slow, but I didn't 100% it.
>plane mechanic
the what?
>>321791895
>>321792559
>plane mechanic
oh wait, you mean those layers like in that forest in RR? No, it does not have such things. It has much bigger "world", so to say, with more towns.
>>321792559
The overworld is arranged into slices that you jump into from pads with arrows on them. You can come closer to the foreground or background using it.
I didnt like it, I much preferred it to all remain on one plane.
>>321791204
PC is a far better game. He'd be letting himself down if he went in that order. Might as well get the mediocre one done immediately.
Plus that goes against the order of events.
>>321792880
Yeah, only Risky's Revenge does that.
>>321793360
RR has a few problems that would've turned me off the series had I not played PC first. They weren't numerous enough to turn me off a playthrough after playing PC though.
As far as story goes, you can sum it up in one sentence and thats told to you in the first part of PC.
Its better to start with the good one and then check out the first ones so you get excited for HGH
>>321793769
I played RR before PC and it didn't turn me off at all, it ain't a bad game but it ain't much of a good one either
>>321793769
Shantae GBC was a good enough game for me to stick it out through RR. It wasn't so horrible that I didn't still give PC a chance even in its own right.
As long as people understand it gets better than RR, there's really no reason not to play it.
She looks familiar
>>321795346
Well aren't they both dark elves?
>>321795708
Nah, one's a filthy half-djinn.
>>321795708
Don't be racist.
>>321793982
>>321794007
I think the problem I had with RR, was the clunkiness of traversal as you progressed through the game. Having to plant my feet on the ground and wait for 1 to 3 dances before changing form added a slowness to the game i think it could have done without. It would have been better to change into a mermaid on contact with the water and into an elephant or monkey with the buttons for the moves. Maybe even make the monkey form a double jump. PC did it a lot better.
>>321791010
>asking for sex with Shantae
>not an Apache helicopter
>>321795939
>>321795971
What's the difference?
>>321795346
Someone change her hair purple and give her blue eyes
>>321796038
You'd be upset with GBC Shantae then. Transforming was more tedious back then using a button combo.
>>321796239
Although it was much more fun to just fuck around with pointlessly before you know a lot of transformations. >>321792559
>>321796239
it's funny how differently people can find different things.
I LOVED the dance-function of Shantae 1, and was quite bummed that it was cut out / streamlined in R.R. (and totally missing in P.C.)
>>321797287
It was a fun novelty, but late game, when you need to quickly change to several different forms to navigate the overworld, it became an annoyance.
This is, of course, assuming you don't use the Tinkerbat transformation for everything.
>>321797561
I never had a need for quick transformation. Either I'd emptied the area of enemies before doing it, or I'd just flap around as a bird over everything.
>Tinkerbat
emulated it on BGB, as a GBC console, so I never got it.
>>321796239
I can deal with it, im going to play it anyway but I much prefer the fluidity of movement you get from chaining traversal moves together.
I was brought into the series from a list of the best metroidvanias so I like the mechanics reminiscent of that
>almost 2016
>still no HGH
>>321798320
Don't rush them, mang. An underdeveloped game will always be bad.
