I used to hate open world games in every form, and was mad as fuck that all promotion and effort for this game so far is focusing on "LOL SUCH BIG OPEN WORLD, LITERALLY NOTHING IN IT BUT TREES"
However after playing xenoblade chronicles X, I have hope for open worlds again. That game does it best because if you are completely not in the mood to deal with the open world, you can fast travel practically anywhere, and your character's maneuverability makes long distances feel short, and skells can cover massive distance if you just want to fly over everything.
I hope at the very least epona travels well and appears next to you all the time. If I have to play a song to summon epona, and she's barely faster than link, and has to deal with carrot meters all the time for running, this game will fall into the monotonous time sink trap every open world game does

Zelda has not been a relevant franchise since 2006. Twilight Princess was the last Zelda game to make any serious money for Nintendo. Skyward Sword sold 3m vs TP which sold 7. For me personally action adventure games make me feel more like I'm a hero going on a grand adventure more than any other genre and a lot of Zelda games do this the best.
I couldn't explain the appeal of open worlds though, I've always found them boring and am not looking forward to them being in Zelda.
