GPU and PSU, also, older machine?

Hi, so I'm thinking about buying a new GPU but I also have to buy a new PSU. I'd like to ask whether those two will be compatible:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5401#ov
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Seasonic-SS-500ET-500-Watt-PC-Power-Supply-80-Plus-Bronze-/272081593576?hash=item3f5953a4e8:g:wHEAAOSwiwVWRows (Seasonic Energy Knight SS-500ET, T3 500W OEM SS500ET-Bronze I'm not sure if the linked one is the one, google is only showing pages in Czech even when I add the word buy or review).

Also, the rest of my rig is almost 4 years old, but it should still be compatible with the PSU, right? Here's my pc (it's in Czech but should suffice) http://www.czc.cz/50dg5f5q6eg9mblnjkaa80tpi3/seznam .

>>
Yes a 960 will be fine on a 500W PSU.
>>
>>321756000
Doesn't look like that has any 6/8 pin PCI-E plugs. I wouldn't recommend it, and go with a more reliable PSU

I'm more concerned about the need of 1x6 and 1x8 pins or whatnot for the GPU. The PSU has one of each and I as a complete layman have no idea if that will suffice for the whole machine.
>>321756502
Here are the parameters as stated by the manufacturer (again, it's in Czech, sorry).
Under the word KONEKTORY in the middle.
>>
>>321756000

Don't try to save on a PSU, ever. Get a 600+W one so that you don't have to upgrade it with every GPU upgrade and that you can feel safe if you decide to connect more USB devices and fans.

The 960 a shit though.
>>
>>321756660
I stand corrected. Looks fine and reviews are quite good. 500W should be enough, given you have the average CPU
>>
>>321756935
If my 560 didn't die I'd be using it for the next couple years until it would die so I won't be, hopefully, buying a new GPU for the next 4 and more years.
I don't plan on attaching any more USB devices or fans.
Why
>>321756959
Would you happen to know if there's a chance of the PSU not being compatible with my HDD, Motherboard, CPU or whatnot? I don't know how new it is but some of the reviews are from 2012, which is when I bought my PC.
>>
>>321756000
Here you go.

>>
>>321757160
It's possible you can run into issues with new Intel CPU's (Haswell and up), but it can be circumvented by disabling some C states.
>>
>>321757337
My CPU is AMD Phenom II X4 960 Black Edition so no need to worry about that (for now).
>>321757263
Will it be compatible with the rest of my hardware?
http://www.czc.cz/50dg5f5q6eg9mblnjkaa80tpi3/seznam
Would you happen to be Czech
>>
>>321757593
Sure it will.
And yep I am.
Although looking at it it might be time to upgrade the CPU as well.
>>
>>321757160

Buying mid-tier cards late into their lifecycle AND close to an API switch, together with all those shenanigans concerning Maxwell and async compute, I'd be more careful.
>>
>>321757720
To bych ale musel koupit i novou základní desku, ne?
A není těch 620W zbytečně moc? Je to sice dobrá obrana do budoucna, ale ono budoucno bude nejdříve až za 4 roky a kdo ví, třeba budu tou dobou potřebovat zase nové konektory ke grafice, které tenhle zdroj nenabízí nebo něco.
>>321757751
>late into their lifecycle
There's still half a year to go at the very least before the new GPU line comes and more than a year before the x60 of that line will come so it's not that bad.
>close to an API switch
???
>shenanigans concerning Maxwell and async compute
Does this have something to do with the 3,5GB meme?
>>
>>321757993

API switch = transfer from dx11 to dx12

Shenanigans with async compute - it's basically been confirmed that Maxwell cards can't handle async compute that DX12 will be relying upon. They're beasts for dx11, but they can't handle the future tech, which means the drivers will have to be programmed both for dx11 and dx12 in the future to support the maxwell cards.

If you really want to go nvidia, then wait for Pascal or just get a 380 from Sapphire.
>>
>>321757751
>late into their lifecycle

960 is like 6 months old.
>>
>>321758194
>then wait for Pascal
that was my original plan
but I'm bored and there're some vidya I'd really like to play
>>
>>321756000
any PSU that is 80+ anything
DO NOT buy 960, it will be dead next year because nvidia, it's not that alive right now either
i can understand why would you want 970, there are arguments for 1080p that sound enough
but 960 is just stupid - get a 380
>>
>>321758323
cycle ends in 3 months, wake up
>>
>>321758462

then buy a used 660 or something, but seriously avoid the 960.
>>
>>321758725
770 should be cheap right now, it is decent enough before next gen
>>
>>321758486
>DO NOT buy 960, it will be dead next year because nvidia, it's not that alive right now either
how come
>>321758806
>>321758725
I plan on keeping the card for as long as it lives, so at least 4 years like my 560 before it died 2 months ago.
>>
>>321758858
get a 380, AMD is always better for long term, ask guys that still own 5xxx series
>>
>>321759025
wow
I've just finished reading an article about Nvidia and DX12 and I think I'll wait before I buy anything.
>>
Not OP, but I am thinking about getting an i3 4170 + GTX 950 for about 550€ (I am on a tight budget). Would spending 30€ more for the 380 be worth it? And would a Thermaltake hamburg 530W be fine with connectors with either card?
>>
>>321759025

the r9 380 is the first time i remember an AMD card actually fetching better benchmarks than its nVidia countepart.
>>
>>321762627

Don't buy lower tier cards. 950s/370s are bollocks and crap if you want to play games.

A 380 is most def worth it, make sure you get the 4gb version though, unless you're running a 720p monitor, which you really shouldn't.

The 530W will be barely enough if you don't OC, but barely. A 600W is better, to be on the safe side.
>>
>>321763595
I'm on a strict budget as evident from the i3, for the price I don't think even with the 950 it would be bad. The 4GB 380 is definitely above my budget. It's a 550€ build after all. I can only go with the 950 or at best the 2GB 960/380.
>>
>>321764512

Save for a few months more dude. It ain't worth it.
>>
>>321763595
>make sure you get the 4gb version though, unless you're running a 720p monitor, which you really shouldn't.

That's bullshit. The 4 GB version is good only as a future proof purchase. At this point it fetches you about no advantage at all.

>And would a Thermaltake hamburg 530W be fine with connectors with either card?

If it's Bronze certified and it's not too old yes.

>>321764512
>at best the 2GB 960/380.

The 380 2GB is the best "cheap" card out there at this point.
>>
>>321766785
http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001783

I'd buy it new.
I don't see anything about bronze certified but I heard it's a good PSU.

Thanks for the help though.

Maxwell GPUs are the most energy efficient around. My build only really uses 375W under load and fairly well overclocked.

You should, however invest in an efficient and well built PSU.

Anything by Seasonic (which produces almost all high-end consumer PSUs (including Corsairs) should be good enough.
>>
Guys, I'm using a
Sapphire R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 OC DUAL-X Boost

Is it time for me to upgrade?
>>
>>321767540
Unless you want ultra graphics and pristine performance that card will last you a good while.
>>
If I don't plan on overclocking, is there really any reason to buy a motherboard better than a 50-60€ Asus or Gigabyte one? From my understanding the difference is only for stuff like OC and more ports and connection I don't really need.
