I can't tell you I haven't played every game but there are absolutely certain themes that carried through the three games in the series I did play. I mean fuck man the series is about exactly that, even though its always different characters it's epitomized by being the same endless struggle that's gone on for centuries. Pretty stupid to say he shouldn't have knowledge of that history and what it means for his character. Sure a director can just tell him that shit but like I said it shows a lack of professionalism and a lack of caring for the role. He's not gonna do his job in understanding the character which will make someone else's job harder.

It's completely up to the director to decide what kinda character will be in this film. It's acting, everybody. Their job is to literally pretend to do something they normally don't and to pretend to be someone they aren't. Complaining about actors not playing video games before they take on the role of a game character is like complaining that Brando was never the head of a criminal empire before he was in the Godfather. It makes no difference. If the script is good and good actors are chosen, the movie will be good. They don't need to be "gamers."
Don't worry, it'll suck like most video game based movies because the writers will do their best to make it more appealing to the average Joe, but not because of Fassy. He's classy.
