Wario Land 5 never ;_;
>>
Its bredy gud. Shame Wario gets no love anymore.
>>
I generally like the whole setting, the gameplay is solid classic Wario. On one of the levels i think i got my ass lost on the way back , you really got to know where to go and where the short cuts are.

Wario Land Shake it did the same thing witht he timer at the end, but Wario land 4 gave me more trouble trying to nab everything. The sounds effects in this game are so crazy too, love the music.

I'm really happy she made that mistake.

That's shake it and it's pretty damn good.
>But muh waggle
Emulate it and map the waggle to a button or some shit then.

Shake it is the perfect follow up to Warioland 4. It is not as awesome as 4 but it shares the same gameplay mechanics such as time attack rushing to the beginning of the level and treasure hunting.
Plus it features Capt. Syrup, which is always a good thing.
>>
ever look into game design, OP? this book does a stellar job at explaining the nuances of form and function in vidya
>>
>H-h-h-hurry up already!

It's pretty good. Each level stands out with it's own gimmicks, aesthetic, music and enemy set and the 'race back to the start' mechanic is used in clever ways (some levels are folded back, others have a 'new' second half, others zigzag across the familiar path and add detours).
>>
>>321743006
I started it recently after meaning to get into the WL series and I wasn't a big fan of it myself.
>>
>>321743267
The music in Shake it is GODLY
>>
One of my all-time favorite games. A standout example of how platformer mechanics should be: simple to pick up, but with a shitload of small, intuitive interactions that you learn yourself as the game presents new challenges.

Plus it had two hard modes that fucked with level design instead of just "you die faster".

Same about the hand drawn sprites and animations. Best in the series.

Very solid game. Every level manages to bring something interesting, and overall the game still feels pretty fresh. The only flaw I can really think of is that it's shorter than the previous games, but the truth is that 18 stages was really all that it needed.

I don't hate Shake It or anything but the level design feels less tight, and honestly, the end level rush was a neat concept to shake things up in 4 but it shouldn't become the series' staple mechanic.

Yeah, as I said Shake it is not as good as 4 but it's far from being a bad game or a bad entry in the Warioland series. All in all, it is a worthy WL4 follow up.

I think the wrapping level design makes a great staple.
The real problem with Shake It! is that it's the same every time. Every time you have to do the dash and ideally you have to do it the optimum way. It's just the same reflex and timing test every time to try to get the dash to make it all the way to the gate.

WL4? A fire level turns into an ice level. Being forced to roll over and over until you complete the board game while the clock is ticking. Other traps that were similarly time consuming. There was some spice to it.
>>
>>321743006
It's great. Wario Land 2-4 are all great. Those are the only ones I played.

WL2 > WL4 > WL3

3 has best music though. 3 Could have been the best if it was more like the time attack you can do after you beat the game. I found it dumb that you lose all the ability you had in 2.

baka when desu senpai.
>>
It's fantastic, one of my favorite GBA games. There are some parts that I like more than others, but overall, it's a wonderful game. The cool special moves, the interesting stages, the money you get from enemies, the puzzle rooms with that old man, and the freaky boss fights are what I like most. Oh, and also;
>EXCELLENTE!!
>MAMA MIA!!
>H-H-H-HURRY UP!!
Wario's voice is hilarious and fun to listen to.

Loved it as a kid, love it now.
Lots of creative little things throughout the whole game from level design to music and the staple Wario enemies that make huge bug eyes and wacky faces when they're getting beaten up is always amusing.

>My aunt got be the game as a gift way back when, thinking it was Mario.

I wonder if that's why the first one was Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land, so people would know its a sequel and not a knock off.
>>
bump for gameplay
>>
Elder god tier: 4
God tier: Virtual Boy Wario Land and Shake it
Equally Amazing in their own ways imo: 1, 2 and 3 in no particular order
>>
>>321743006
Can't say for all of /v/, but it's one of the best 2D platformers ever made, up there with Donkey Kong Country 2, Yoshi's Island and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
All of the levels are varied (no reusage of tilesets) and greatly designed, the graphics and OST are great, and so are the controls.
Wario Land 3 is a masterpiece also, play that if you haven't yet. It's different than WL4 in a sense that it has harder puzzles and you revisit levels (game is a mix of a metroidvania and a 2d platformer) when you get new abilities.

We haven't even gotten a new Wario Ware game. No Game & Wario doesn't count

What I wouldn't kill for a new Wario ANYTHING game.
>>
>>321751197
>No Game & Wario doesn't count
I wish people like you would give G&W half a chance. It's not nearly as bad as people say and the WarioWare wacky feel is intact in the game.
But must naysayers are Ashleyfags complaining about her redesign so whatever.
>>
Its really damn good. I have fonder childhood memories of 3 but 4 is still a fantastic title.

Speaking of 3 I find it weird that Nintendo hasn't attempted to make a 3D Wario game with that kind of formula. The mission-based objectives would fill a nice niche which had a void left in it after Mario stopped doing the 64/Sunshine open world level styled approach and went for the more linear Galaxy style. Wario would be perfect for it.
>>
>>321750546
>game is a mix of a metroidvania
Which is obvious when you realize WL4 was made by Sakamoto's team using the Metroid Fusion engine.
>>
>>321751381
I'm not saying it cause I think it's bad. Multiplayer has gotten loads of entertainment from me and friends.
It just isn't a Wario Ware game.
>>
>>321751714
The last attemp at a 3D Wario, WarioWorld, failed so miserably they will never attempt to make another 3D Wario game.
That being said, the wrestling moveset in that game was awesome.
>>
Why can't we get a Wario Bros game? Wario Land gameplay but you can switch to Waluigi if you want
>>
>>321751734
I'm not sure how that is obvious, as Wario Land 3 is for the GBC, and Wario Land 4 for the GBA.
>>
>>321751947
Because Miyamoto fucking hates the both of them
>>
>>321751840
it was originally mischief makers 2

Yeah sure. Reminder Waluigi is in Mario Maker as well.

Is it worth it to play Wario Land 2 and 3 before 4, or should I just go straight to 4? Not to keen on Wario Land 1 since no colour.
>>

Play them all, fagface. The ordercis not important.

>>
>>321752394
Intellingent System is the one to blame for SS. Miyamoto just gave his opinion, IS completely fucked up. Inb4 the same old bullshit of Japanese culture about your bosses at work and similar shit.
Just look at the recent IS output, they don't give a fuck anymore. It's all about Waifu Emblem.
>>
>>321752006
Nah he doesn't hate wario. He just doesn't loves him as much as he loves mario luigi peach bowser and toad.

He didn't make waluigi but he doesn't hate him , he nust flat out doesn't use him but he allows use of him in any mario spin off
>>
>>321752421
Play em all. Correct order:
1 > VBWL > 2 > 3 > 4 > Shake It

I can't wait for the Wario amiibo with his classic plumber outfit.

R&D 1 was the coolest part of Nintendo. Nintendo needs a weird ass anti-Miyamoto department.
>>
>>321754863
The team that made Splatoon is pretty much composed by new blood.
>>
>>321743274
I just can't get over the fact that there's a 500 page academic analysis out there of Warioland 4 of all things, and that the book is actually really great.
