When thinking of sentient alien races, it's really damn hard to make something that doesn't resemble humanity. Human is what defines intelligence to us, it's why we anthropomorphize things. So when designing an alien race, the devs merely take aspects of things we are familiar with and mix and mash them together.
For simplicity, this is often simplified into a few key traits which results in an entire race specializing in one thing. It could be a warmongering race based off a combination of Mongolian and Aztec culture who literally does nothing but start shit, or perhaps a race with a mix of roman and Japanese culture that is composed of nothing but wise sages that govern warp travel.
In the end all your franchises races will be segments of things humans are familiar with, leaving humanity as humanity. Going with the classic star trek cliche, humanity is unified but ultimately represented by Europeans or Americans. No one at this point wants to define humanity as anything other than what we currently perceive them as, which is effectively a "jack of all trades".
We're the "jack of all trades" because everything you could possibly think of bar some made up bullshit like space magic is something humanity does and comprehends so there is no excuse for why we'd suck at it. Meanwhile your ayy lmaos will have some biological excuse for being a total asshole incapable of a good number of things humans have accomplished.
