Man the turn of the millennium was a wild time.

where's the anon that put one of these in their butt?
>>
Of course. What does the inside of it look like anyways? Is it an industrial size printer or something?

They seemed like a waste too for how little of time they had them out, the Blockbuster near me had one. Now even the store is a relic of the past.

A entire 7 foot tall larger then a fridge Pokemon Snap station?

I still have these

I was working at Blockbuster when these were in the stores. Only saw one kid ever try to use it and was so dissappointed when it was appearently broken. Still a little sad this abomination existed soley to crush one child's hopes.

Yes, and 9 months later he posted a pic of him giving birth to a gameboy camera printer

as i understand it those things are now very very rare and quite prized by the hardcore collectors.

Yea, every time I went in no one was using it. Good for me I guess because I could just play Pokemon Snap the whole time.

Found pictures of the inner workings too. I'm guessing it stayed broken because there probably was no more than five people nationwide who were trained on how to fix these things.
>>
>>321719769
no no, i was referring to the machine itself, not the cards.
>>
>>321719839
eh, a N64 will go for about 60 bucks I think?
>>
>>321719783
so it's literally just an N64 and a consumer TV inside a big box
>>
>>321719783
Yeh we weren't allowed to try to open it or anything. You could play the game, just never print.
>>
>>321719925
sure, but an original cabinet in good condition still goes for a ton to the right person.

>>321719775
I remember them having isles of Divx stuff that no one ever bought. I think near the end of the Divx they were trying to give the damn thing away.
>>
>>321719775
I only remember the codec DVIX, and XVID of course.
>>
>>321718984

My local Blockbuster never got one.
>>
>>321719783
what the hell is that on the screen? the right part looks normal, but the left part almost looks like a desktop
>>
>>321719949
It's a uniquely modified N64 hooked up to the game with a photo printer that read your n64 memory card from a reader and then printed out a sheet of photostickers that were pictures you took in the game. You paid using a card. You had to load the card with money by paying the cashier.

It's one of a kind for what it was and parts are probably near impossible to order or repair.

If you send in your Nintendo 64 even today Nintendo will repair it for you, so anything is possible.
>>
>>321721257
Where did you read this?
>>
>>321721257
it had additional bullshit attached to interface with the printer and such. A standard consumer N64 does not have this.

Have you considered that it mostly happens to laserdiscs because most laserdiscs are at the age where discs begin to rot?
>>
>>321719454
as someone who didnt grow up with the n64 what exactly are these for?

I played a shit ton of pokemon snap and had pretty close to a maxed report score. I had a whole reel of pictures I wanted to print out, but of course I'm Canadian from a small town up north and there were none of those machines.

up until recently I still used the TV stand that I put all the 'sample' stickers on. Couldn't take it with me when I moved. RIP

That's why I said near impossible to repair. Do you know anyone with experience in fixing obscure printing station/n64 demo units? It took people 15 years to find out how to hack together some way to print photos on this thing because the only real way was to have a loaded card with money still on it. It was an impossibility for so long because once they were out of Blockbusters so was the ability to do that.
http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=22&threadid=132995

They're not a very well documented machine.
>>
>>321721796
You used them to pay for the print outs.

Essentially it's a prepaid card. You go to a cashier, fill it up with money, stick in in the cabinet and you get print outs of your pokemon snap pics
>>
>>321721796
they're for reading the fucking thread
>>
I remember having these. Thing was only on in my town for like a week after snap released. Then it was constantly broken or out of ink on the printer. the local cabinet game repair guy made a fucking mint turning the thing back on and charging the blockbuster manager to replace the ink/paper because it required a "special nintendo tool" to access which was his way of telling the manager "You'll pay me and like it or have a shitload of unhappy customers."

Snap, Stadium, and Hey You! Pikachu! were the only games I had for my N64 until that blockbuster went out of business (before netflix even existed) and basically had a fire sale on the shit they had left. Were I not 9 goddamn years old when that happened, I would have picked up a lot more than Yoshi's Island and Smash Bros.
>>
Sometimes I wish these things were still around or that I had one, and then I remember I can just play Pokemon Snap in an emulator and capture the pictures in high res to use however I want.

Living in the future is cool.
>>
>>321721994
thats pretty neat. im sure those will never be worth anything but itd be a cool piece of game history way down the road. although it kinda is now
>>
>>321722183
cards are worthless, the cabinets though are a bit more pricey.
>>
No, I didn't play baby games.

>It's just an N64 hooked up to a TV
>NO ITS AN N64 HOOKED UP TO A TV WITH A MEMORY CARD SLOT THAT HOOKS UP TO A PRINTER

Doesn't sound much more complicated tbqh family.
>>
>>321722634
sure in theory its a simple machine, but working on them can be a bit of a nightmare. They werent exactly designed to be easily serviced.

You can speculate all your want on their simplicity, but the fact of the matter is that collectors have had troubles with these things for a long time, which is part of the reason working ones go for upwards of $1000. If they were easy to repair youd think there would be someone snapping up all the broken ones at around $500, fixing them, and making a massive profit. And yet the majority out there are broken with a reputation of being difficult to work with.
>>
>>321723538
Sounds more like a software issue or nebulous design rather than complication mechanisms tbqh pham.

Which has the same end result, they're hard to repair. Nobody said anything about "complicated mechanisms" but you

Keep in mind a lot of parts are specific to the machine itself. The printer can only be found in this machine. It's even Nintendo branded. Keep in mind it's a photo printer that is at least 16 years old at this point.

You can't just go out and buy any old printer because this is the only one designed to interface with the snap station. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PokeMon-Snap-Station-Printer-NT-300-Nintendo-Digital-Photo-Printer-/261918224535

No shit I remember- we've been having threads about them for years.
I'm a freshly turned 18-year-old (25th of this year.) You really expect me to remember this garbage?
