The point I was trying to make it that yes, while they can probably determine if anyone saw your info, they can't tell you whether that person has any malevolent intent. Your average Steam user is going to see someone elses info on screen think 'oh, something has gone wrong' then probably close the window.
Again, I think they should at least release some kind of statement, but telling you personally if your information has been 'stolen' makes little sense. Explaining that someone may have seen your data is about all they can do.
