Why can't I frag anybody in this fucking game?
I feel like I'm moving like molasses and everybody is skating flying past me.
I can lay in the middle of the fucking woods inside of a downed tree not moving and get shot.
How do I get good?

You have to learn the maps first and then learn how to observe enemy movement and positions. In BF4 you want to avoid firefights as much as possible and deal with people via flanking and surprise attacks.
Keep moving, don't sit still, and always play as if you're spotted and the enemy knows where you are.

Jeep stuff on jeeps also sniper rifles work really well on buildings but close quarters combat (usually operation locker) use the support class assault rifles work really well

On a side note. What the fuck is up with having to open a browser to start a game? I have to have the bf4 addon on my web browser, the game and it's dlc(only to find out premium doesn't include legacy operations), AND origin.

I'd stay away from recon, you'll do a lot better if you focus on playing the objectives.
If you're brand new then try to join a squad with people who are higher level and actually going to the objectives. Follow them around, drop medkits, drop ammo, and mostly pay attention to what they do and how they move. Your biggest goal should be to learn the safe routes between flags and get comfortable with the weapons.
Whenever you fire an unsuppressed weapon you show up on the minimap, good players spend most of their time watching the map so they are going to see you and adjust their position accordingly.
Play on Hardcore as Sniper with a DMR and the PLD and you will piss of a lot of people

best map for Conquest in my opinion is Golmud Railway. There are plenty of servers that play on that map exclusively justgit gud
Bought the game on launch day. Only just got to playing the campaign and man. Grenade launchers are broken. Not sure about MP but I would shoot right at their feet or behind their feet and it would do nothing.

RPGs have almost no splash range or damage and even grenades got nerfed not too long ago into utter uselessness.

It had a horrible launch due to them just not giving a single fuck, it was full of bugs that anyone would have seen if they just played the game for 5 minutes. Even today there are still issues that aren't fixed and they STILL have no idea how to balance the game, they just do sweeping changes every few months and call it a day.
Outside of that the maps are bad and 99% of the playerbase is clueless.

Kpm doesn't matter if it's close to 1. Doing other things that nets you more points than kills is very possible. Gunner with soflam, pld, spotting, rep in helis, being a literal mobile spawn as a transport if you're good and know how to evade locks at 90 degree angel tricks, etc.

play Conquest. It's not even about how many kills you get. Of course it helps but you rack up the most points getting objectives, spotting vehicles, supplying ammo/health/reviving teammates. I often finish top of the game with not that many kills because I spent the entire time getting the objectives and helping out my squad/team. Just get the objectives, kills will come. While you're defending the objective and some asshat runs in to stop you you kill him, but don't run around specifically looking for people to kill

I used to play BF2 constantly and was pretty good but i can't put my finger on why i have such a hard time with 3 and 4.

You might actually find hardcore easier ironically enough. You don't have a minimap and you have to worry about team killing, but it's a lot nicer that everything just dies quicker.
