HOTS killed itself with an overly aggressive monetization model, and really bad matchmaking.
OW has a really good monetization model (b2p, with a PROMISE of all future maps and heroes being free), and (from what I played) good MM. It needs Ranked badly if it's going to succeed, but since they already have an MMR system, most of the hard work is already done

Titanfall didnt succeed as much as it could have because it looked like everything else out there. Sure the mech thing was cool and new and you could move around the map in novel interesting ways, but the cover and screenshots looked like another CoD clone and those dont have a very good reputation. People who like that style stick to cod and everyone else knows to stay away.
Titanfall tried to directly compete with the 800 pound gorilla in the room that is CoD undoubtedly at its popularity prime. Blizz is almost creating a new space as they are drawing from the TF2 crowd as well as the burgeoning MOBA market, not to mention the surprisingly large number of straight up blizzard fans. Combine that with a very colorful, interesting (at least to the layman) art style that doesnt look like much else in the competetive shooter arena and you have the makings of a game with some potential in the current market.
Provided blizz doesnt fuck it up that is.
