How do you guys feel about Project Reality 2.0?
>>
>>321674746
you mean Project Disconnected: punkbuster error 2.0? meh
>>
>>321674746
It's great, doesn't run superbly on my machine but it's a super promising game.
It's good and bad how much the game relies on teammwork.
>>
>>321674920
I don't think squad uses punkbuster
>>
>>321674746
so far enjoying it.

I suck and have met a few real autists but overall it could end up being amazing.

Hope it doesn't fucking die or get run into the ground though
>>
>>321674746

What is this? Some kind of mod or standalone game?
>>
>>321676539
standalone pre release
>>
>>321676813

Is it free?
>>
>>321674746
I'm going to wait until it has almost as many features as the original PR, no point spoiling it by playing a half-baked alpha version.
>>
>>321677075
no its 40 dollars
>>
>>321677482

HAH

I'd rather learn knitting.
>>
>>321677704
>I'm a poor fag
kek. you weren't going to buy it anyway :^)
>>
recommend a good group to play with?
>>
>>321677704
It's a shitter filter, preventing fags like you from playing the game.
>>
>>321678292
A /v/ group :^)
>>
>>321674746
You mean Project Reality 2.0 Frames Per Second
>>
>>321677803
Not same anon, but if you like paying $40 for a shitty half made game then you should look up this company called EA, you'd love their games
>>
>>321678471
>for a shitty half made game then you should look up this company called EA
Difference being that Squad is being sold as UNDER DEVOLOPMENT (early access) unlike an game from EA which get published and sold as completed
>>
>>321678660

> Early Access

I'll wait until it's not shit then. That's the point of Early Access, right? The people who pay cash up front just volunteer to be alpha testers?

Our choice then.
>>
>>321678660
So the only difference is honesty on behalf of developer? What if they decide it was a dog crap idea after all and shut the project down?
>>
>>321678830
>>321678983
>The people who pay cash up front just volunteer to be alpha testers?
Well some like to play it early which i get. Hell i was close to buying into it myself cuz I'm a huge PR fan but fuck EA
I learned my lesson after Tripwire fucking us over with KF2.
I wasn't a big fan of EA to beign with outside of KF2 but fuck that shit completely after KF2 happend
>>
>>321679483

Hey, I backed Overgrowth.

That "game" is fun for about a week. Then you realize that the money and time you spent on that glorified tech demo could have been much better spent on knitting needles, a book, or just another game.

I wouldn't have minded at all if the head dev didn't get weirdly disrespectful to his backers as the years went by, just sharply telling them to get a refund if they criticize whatever he's doing. Early access combined with free refunds seems to be an excuse for the developer to never listen to criticism.

Oh jesus for how long is that shit in devolopment again?
>>321680068
>I'm a stream snipe faggot

From the videos I've just looked up, it appears nice, but I probably wouldn't get it for forty bucks. Plus I already have ARMA. At least they moved away from Battlefield's awful Refractor engine.

One thing I'm not too keen on in these videos is lethality. I'm not sure if it's that the players I watched have shitty aim, if the game just has crappy latency and anti-lag systems, if the weapons have some excessive inaccuracy system, if soldiers can tank a dozen shots if it isn't to the head or what.

It is pretty good, though performance could be better and there is a lot of shitters running around. If you don't have a competent squadlead the game can be quite frustrating

webm is from the pre-alpha and was fixed month ago
>>
>>321681059
>Not leaving in tactical rocket jumping
Game ruined
>>
>>321680447

It technically started at around 2008, but there hasn't been a really meaningful update in about a year or two. If you check the alpha details for the last two years, most of it's very superficial stuff or bug-fixing.

It's especially distressing since David is a demonstrably talented coder. That means the only explanation for the lack of updates is pure laziness.

>>321680563
>>321681059

In a high lethality "realistic" shooter, poor optimization or netcode will kill it. It doesn't matter if the mechanics are impeccably designed if it's not capable of supporting them on a technical level.

So just like in PR?

>>321681581
Welp. May it RIP i guess. A shame really
>>
>>321680563
The game is very lethal, 2-3 rounds is enough to drop a player and the netcode is very solid. Also, the bullets go where your gun aims, unlike in PR.

>>321681581
The netcode is fine and there is no desync issues like in Arma (unless the server has shit performance), it is just that on high player count servers performance drops a lot. The devs promise that reworking the animation system will fix framerate on high population servers (besides also implementing vaulting, bipods etc.). I really hope what they are saying is true, I want a shooter experience like arma above 30 frames per second.
>>
>>321682271

No matter how great the game looks in .webm, I can't back a high-lethality shooter that still has performance issues. It's too big of a factor to just trust that the devs will eventually resolve them. They have to be fixed first.
>>
>>321676813
Love how you used the words pre release instead of (early access dead in a year). Go shill somewhere else.
>>
>>321682657
It doesn't have performance issues I usually get 60 fps and sometimes it dips to 40 buy a better computer
>>
>>321682923
Don't get me wrong but...
>WORKS ON MY MACHINE
>doesn't posts any specs
Useless info in short
>>
>>321677102
>not just pretending that it's all part of some sort of narrative and you begin in small COIN ops and throughout the next year the conflict will expand to conventional warfare
>>
>>321683029
i5-760 overclocked a 5 year old processor 6 gigs of ram and a gtx970.
>>
it's good, pretty stable for a ea game.

that said, i can't justify $40 for what's in the game right now. when they add in vehicles, logistics etc. it's going to be much more fleshed out.
>>
>>321683156
>Those specs
Well the game isn't CPU bound, but GPU, that's for sure.
No surprsie it runs on your System then
