Unless you're an achievement whore and want another game on your "Perfect Games" list stay away. It's linear, the plot is retarded with barely any meaningful “choices”, and your "choices" don't matter besides the final actions (Near the end of the fucking game).
In the game you're a writer, on the start you pick your character which also defines your loved one. Fast forward and your waifu/husbando breaks up with you, but it turns out its getting married and it’s up to you to visit the wedding and stop it or be a total cuck and let it happen. Through the game you have the option to write the book about your actions and it is always a best seller in the end.
No matter what you do your previous choices are arbitrary besides how much money you have, and most of the characters are unlikeable cunts who will judge you for your characters sexual orientation, gender and skin color, so yes, it is one of ‘those’ games.
I played it only once, and once is enough. The only redeeming aspect is the soundtrack.

you have powers and pretty visuals, but the game is repetitive and dumb, every room is the same shit, enter watch the enemy paterns, avoid them, get to the exit, if you fuck up you can use your flowery special form or whatever, but you'll still die.
I'm angry at this game because it's just pretty, at least back when it released it was, but it's so shallow and devoid of any soul, feels like they didn't even want to make it, or at least I can't believe they were excited about making such a boring slow paced game.

I want something explore-y that isn't just a walking simulator. FortressCraft Evolved was almost that, but it was ridiculously bad mechanics and slow start, I was chained to the landing zone for way too long.
I feel like I need something first person (pref, third optional), explorey/dungeon crawley that doesn't "feel" like it's a reskinned Doom like Delve is. Any suggestions?

Dark Souls is sort of a "metroidvania", so it does have a certain feeling of exploration to it, the world looks great and all the different areas interconnect with each other nicely, making the world feel open. Of course it's not really an open world game.

Pretty much. FortressCraft Evolved as I said was close, it's minecraftian in nature, digging, exploring, mining and transportation logistics, with base defense as a side thing. I tried Delve and it was okay but not quite right either.
