So instead of releasing any games this year, Valve instead released everyone's personal information?

Is there a database with all data leaked or is just the random logging?
>>
>>321669472

Basically some people started getting sent to other peoples' Steam account pages when they logged in. They could access the other accounts' user homepage, transfer their Steam wallet money, move games, even buy on Steam using saved credit card info.

The hackers figured out how the bug worked and how to access specific accounts before Steam tech support was even aware of it, and now pretty much all the famous accounts (and a steadily growing number of anonymous accounts) on Steam have been buggered by hackers.

This incident really shows how much of a meme company Valve are.

Welcome to Steam. The number 1 online videogame distributor. Where games are as cheap as the security.

So let's get down to business. Let me just confirm your personal information aaaand... it's gone.

VALVE LITERALLY DOESN'T OWE YOU A SINGLE APOLOGY. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE AN ENTITLED CHILD, SHOW DEFINITIVE PROOF OF TANGIBLE DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THE SMALL MISHAP
>>
>>321675702
>implying I buy from valve and not pirate everything

Did anyone actually get fucked over when sony got hacked?
>>
>>321675798
It's ok to live in a 3rd world country, anon

Credit cards are pretty much the worst fucking way to actually steal anything; giving out cc info isn't as damaging as the personal info.

Even then, your personal info is being seen by, what, 3, 4 random assholes, completely unlinked to anything else on the internet but what you've done on steam? Who gives a shit?
>>

>source: my ass
>>
>>321675857
No.
Again, credit card theft is fucking impossible. The card holder just has to go to their bank and report it.

This is not what happened. What drugs are you on?
>>
>>321676369
It's great that I can always get fraudulent charges cancelled.

What's not so great is being on the phone for hours while Ranjeet taps away at his keyboard and asks me a bunch of questions, over two-thirds of which I have to ask him to repeat, because I can't understand his accent.
>>
>>321677121
That's why you go in and talk to the people who work at the bank who actually speak English.
>>
>>321672656
Are you fucking dumb?
>>
>>321677752
That's still a monumental waste of time.

So instead of being on the phone for hours with Ranjeet, now I'm standing in line at the bank, and once I'm at the front of the line, Gladys is glad to help, but there are still plenty of questions to go over.

And I just come back at a time when it's not busy, then they'll just ask "Why didn't you just call our 1-800 number?" or "Why didn't you come to us sooner?"

For what it's worth, I haven't had to deal with this. I do know that a lot of people had to deal with this. I don't want to be one of them, so I make it a point to not store credit card info on any online service.

So yes, I'm complaining for the sake of complaining, even when I'm unaffected, so that others may learn from this. Spread the word, nigger.

>>321678816
You really need to change banks. Yours sucks.
>>
>>321679168
To be fair, all banks suck.
>>
>>321679230
I'll give you that.
