It will be an okay distraction of a game, marred entirely by them trying to label it amongst some of the finest vidya of all time.
Literally all they would've had to do was remove the "Metroid Prime" from Federation Force and it'd get far more critical acclaim. Even Nintendo knew they were cucking us - there's a reason they announced the game as 'Blastball' first, with no mention of the Metroid franchise whatsoever. They know as well as we do that this doesn't deserve association with those games, and is only named as such to sell a few thousand more copies

It's all well and good to have spinoff games - gotta keep the money flowing after all. Here's the thing though; it's been 5 years since we had a NON-spinoff game, and that was Other M, which sucked. You can't just bring a franchise out of hiatus for a shitty spinoff, it just doesn't make sense.
If Federation Force was announced alongside a Wii U 'core' Metroid title that was to release a few months prior, it'd be a different story. Leaving a franchise on the backburner for 5+ years and then revealing this is just a big fat dick slap to the face. It'd be like if Gabe came up on stage this E3 to announce Half-Life Kart Racing. The franchise has been dormant long enough that a spinoff is just taking the piss

m8, I don't even play Metroid, I'm just looking at it from a realistic point of view. It's fucking stupid to bring a franchise back from the grave just to make a game that's entirely unlike the franchise itself. If Metroid Prime Pinball had never came out on DS, and they announced Metroid Prime Pinball this E3 instead of Federation Force, it'd still get backlash because it's a shameless shilling cocktease.
Ask yourself this: is Federation Force labelled as a Metroid Prime title because it's worthy and fitting of the franchise? Or is it labelled as such as an attempt to shill an unrelated title to Prime fans?
