Is there any love for the best RTS on /v/ ? What civs do you play ?

Started playing it a bit again today.
Autisming out about what kind of building pattern I want though.
pic related, but useless
I've been playing this a bit since I got it a couple days ago. I'm having the same experience that I do with other RTS's I've played which is that standard difficulty I can win without really trying but on moderate difficulty everyone outpaces me and kills me really quickly and I'm not really having that much fun either way. Enjoying the campaigns though, they seem better balanced for how I'm playing.
Are the civs really that different outside of very high level play? The only differences are a couple unique units each right?

It's been a while, but iirc there are more differences than just a couple uniques.
Like one civ might not have lumber gathering upgrade #2 for example, while it has all the cavalry upgrades.
So some differences between civs are fairly subtle.
I've been playing the Campaign for the past week. I'm up to Barbarossa mission 1. Doing all moderate difficulty and finding it a cakewalk.

You need to take advantage of the terrain and funnel the enemy into chokepoints. The enemy AI is pretty dumb and will just charge units into your castles.
>Best RTS
That's not Dawn of War.
