How can one become a weeb?
I want to get into Japanese games but I have no idea where to start. I am basically someone who has played online shooters for the last 6~7 years. The last jrpg I played was probably FFX on the PS2 and I didn't finish past 10 minutes because I had to go out somewhere and someone stole my playstation from the home while we were gone.
I don't own any console or handheld, wat do?
steam has a lot of web games. everything up to pd1 is easy to emulate
start with chrono trigger, then final fantasy 8, chrono cross, xenogears. i'd recommend ff7 before ff8 but it's getting remade so it's up to you if you wanna wait or not

Basically you just actively try to have the worst taste possible in anything you find yourself interested in.
For example weebs tend to like moetrash, JRPGs with social/dating mechanics, and soccer. You'll notice all of these are widely considered the lowest form of their respective mediums. It's really easy if you just stick to this simple principle.

In hindsight, what you really want is to just play videogames. In that case just play whatever the fuck looks interesting, if that's neptunia then try it, if it's super robot wars get yourself an emulator and try it.

OP, assuming you are legitimately asking -
Find games that have voiced lines, and particularly ones whose subtitles have the characters appear as they are spoken. The Sakura Wars series does this, and I'm not sure which others do, but it was something that inspired me to go off the deep end and start to learn the language.
Get used to going to sites like jisho.org, wanikani, and goo.ne.jp (eventually).
Play a game with a spiral bound notebook at your side. Any time you see a character or word you don't recognize, look it up and write it repeatedly on one line, over and over again. Learn the stroke order. Learn the furigana associated with it. Consider buying a joyo kanji book to get used to how kanji is sorted on stroke order, and try to use it to look things up.
