If it had re-usable TMs that next game had and better scaling in Johto it would be solid. As it is the ability to sequence break gym leader order is nice but because you can do so the game has a shitload of shit level trainers for almost 3 gyms.

Because that's literally Johto's issue. The trainers inbetween gym 4 to 8 are scaled like shit since you can sequence break and do gym 7 before gym 5 and 6.

It took me at least a week to beat them all

sucks that some of the cooler evolutions (scizor, etc.) are locked to postgame and trading with items, making the pokemon selection for the main game pretty boring
otherwise it was great though, wasn't bogged down by a poorly told story like X/Y or OR/AS

I think they were phenomenal games, and I had played every game in the series up to them at the time. They're tied for second vs Emerald in my book. First for me is Crystal but that's just cause it was my first. Nostalgia and all.

The best thing about HG/SS is that it represents what G/S was supposed to be like without the technological limitations and time constraints of the GBC. It was the competion of a masterpiece.

Was always stupid that some of the best new Johto concept mons weren't even available in their regions or until you've beaten Kanto. Misdreavus and Sneasel in particular. Not that they were even good before their evolutions.

When I was in college I would use it for faggy shit like walk-a-thons that my school would hold and the Pokewalker was more accurate and functional than any of the $0.05 shitty ones they handed out.
Kinda tempted to get it again and actually beat Red this time but I don't feel like dropping $35.00-$50.00 for a used copy (fucking gamestop) when I can just emulate and DS games look like shit on the 3DS.
