Barely related, but how come when you ask an anime studio to make a 3DCG FMV for a video game, it usually looks pretty solid, decent FPS, models skirt the fine line between 2D and 3D, constant motion to avoid looking creepy, etc.
But you ask an animation studio to do a 3D CG anime and everything's moving like an uncanny valley reject.
