I've never played a Metal Gear game aside from MG2 on the PS2 years ago and Ground Zeroes before MGSV. I found V to be very underwhelming. I expected it to be like GZ but with like a couple of different bases and great ways to tackle them. Instead I got open world boringness and repeating missions.

Fallout 4 of course. But despite the shit RPG elements, the game itself, as in the combat, world atmosphere, customization, crafting, settlement building, is actually pretty enjoyable. Almost all of the missions are terrible though, and you can't interact with any NPCs outside of designated cities/towns which sucks.
On the bright side, GTA V on PC at 60fps and all the mods are great. Driving around with self radio (your own songs) or doing side quests is still really fun, ~100 hours in.

There was really no need for this game to be open world as the majority of it is rather empty, and most missions reuse the same locations.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong and Undertale were the two games I was most disappointed in this year. Both are story-based games. One has good gameplay but terrible writing. The other has good writing and terrible gameplay. Both have a terrible fanbase that make talking about either a nightmare. I only refunded Undertale strangely because I can look past bad writing if the game is at least fun to play. Plus I preordered Shadowrun: Hong Kong since I loved the previous two Shadowrun games that Harebrained Schemes made.

What bothers me is the lack of content. I'm fine with repetitive missions, there's only so many ways you can frame sneak here, grab this/rescue them/destroy that, but it's that they're in the same area over and over and over. The game needed more unique bases and they all needed to be twice as large and far denser too. OKB zero may be quite intimidating when you first come to it but if you stop and analyse it you'll find it pretty small, bare and generally boring. Ideally every base should have been on par with GZ for size and quality and given the time and money allocated to V I don't think that's unreasonable. They're pretty fun to do just for the sake of it if you just want more PvE gameplay. The non-root dungeons are fixed and offer all of the unique bosses. Plus you can get the ingredients fairly quickly.
And you do get some armor like that madman's set, as well as the tier 3 runes if you care about them.
Of course it's still just optional if you want a bit more content.

I hate the dicksucking CDRed gets for it. Sure it had great atmosphere, great music, and graifix (since that's all reviewers give a shit about) but the combat was at time fucking atrocious. This isn't coming from some 'oh the game's too hard!', no, the combat is straight up dogshit most of the time. Hit detection is atrocious. What Geralt's sword obviously hits, the game doesn't register. What monster/human strikes obviously miss Geralt, register as hits in the game. I've had damage taken from a sword swipe that any fool could see didn't land. I've had half my health taken off from a Cyclops swing even though I had fully rolled behind him out of the way. It's dogshit. And don't get me started on the 'forced' combat shit. If you're traversing a cliffside and then are thrust into combat you just have to suck it up and fight on some little flat rock since you can no longer jump to higher ground. The option should be there to sheath your sword and leave the combat stance. It's fucking stupid. The game is still littered with glitches both gameplay and graphics wise. Most of the shit off the main story are 'speak to person, track monster, kill' or 'go here to find witcher gear' or 'defeat these monster to get hidden treasure chest filled with weak ass shit'
