Prospectors, I picked it because I liked its goal more than the other divisions. The fact that it gives you free skell replacements, free party healing items, or free money because they win every damn day was just gravy.

Use oblivias excellent locations for research/duplicator tricks. Set a dupe on the mountain point, a booster on the connector directly south and the best research probes you can attached to the booster from there. If you can use sixes for the north most and the southeast one you can also get a chain of fives or whatever on the northeast three.

But it's mostly for Rp and light bonuses. It really does not matter aside from the skell tickets in prospectors

You don't need to craft anything up until endgame. It seems like a waste as I think the higher ones are locked untill post game anyway. Once you start doing off the record quests and need to kill high level tyrants however, you may want to consider a few of mechanical and insectoid exploit augs

Let me add, you may want to craft a weapon or two along the way. As the archetype weapons are almost always better than the shop ones. So if you can, it wouldn't hurt to get one of your choice.

How important to the story is your player avatar?
I made a self-insert guy that looks like my real-life self, but having no voice or even text dialogue most of the time is really jarring if the game expects me to self-insert. Should I just start a new file making a new qt waifu avatar that's at least pleasing to look at? I can pretend she's a robot that can't talk and I don't mind replaying to the point I'm at since I only just chose which division I'm in.

It's a must have for a wii owner if you enjoy exploration. The combat isn't exactly stellar but the world is huge and the sense of progression and shrinking world as you gain mobility options is unlike most games. I'm closing in on the 200 hour mark myself.
Be sure to explore on foot as much as you can. Go north across the land bridge when you can too before you get a robot.

Great game. It plays like a time based rpg from the 90s but with movement and elevation options, and the game throws new things at you every 5 hours for the first 60 or so to master. The exploration and world building is oddly addictive.

That sounds great. I worked out a 3x Overdrive build using the ramjet and longsword for a while. For a good bit of the game I could take out 2 appendages in a single session on some of the tyrants. Good fun.
Is reclassing back to Novice for 5 skill slots a good idea or should you not do that? Does Novice get powerful weapons later?

I can't say exactly what the guy I saw was using. But I had great battles using the star fall combo set initiated with an assault hammer. With astrolibrium and a beam weapon star fall rondo can hit some high numbers without being compleatly broken.
