I want to get into the Advance Wars series. Tell me of the appeal and why you guys like it that much over, say, Fire Emblem.

Fun portable strategy game that doesn't rely on being overly complex and the plot doesn't try to be SERIOUS WAR STORY crap (until DoR)

It's easy to pick up while still being a challenge. The multiplayer is great.
