I'm just shit at videogames.

>That fucking feel when you're straight up shit at video games

The worst thing is that I like vidya. But I can't prevent myself from sucking at it.

Counter strike, DOTA, Nosgoth, TF2, Ryse, Killing Floor, you name it.

I'm fucking garbage at them. I just can't manage to reach the highscores depite how much I play.

Am I fucking dumb /v/? I'm 21 and can't fucking play vidya for shit.
>>
>>321548210
Play non competitive video games?
>>
You're 21. Video games are for 14-year-olds on Adderall and caffeine. Of course you can't keep up.
>>
>that fucking feel when you will never get to fuck winona ryder sideways
life just ain't fair, you know?
>>
are you me
>>
>>321548210

How many hours have you played Killing Floor and TF2 for?
>>
>>321548347

I feel like most actresses would be dead fish in the bedroom anyways.

Probably fake orgasms too
>>
The vast majority of people who are in the high scorers tend to play nothing but that game all day every day, especially Dota and CS. Of course some people are just naturally talented at videogames.

Don't sweat it, just play for fun or stop playing online games.
>>
Slowly getting better is a good feeling, you should try it instead of coming to /v/ the second you die.
Reminder that everyone should go play Reassembly.
Pirate it, buy it, i don't care.
>>
You aren't good at any types? Have you really tried every genre?
>>
>>321548423
yeah, that's what i tell myself too
>>
Do you have slow reflexes or something?
>>
>>321548210
Step down to the minor leagues and pick up an Xbox. The community still has small pockets of skilled players/high level play but generally speaking has a "spongier" community for people without skill.
>>
>>321548210
I know that feel, bro. I got into trying to git gud at sm4sh. Got decent at some tech and shit, but I still randomly get rekt by five year olds spamming roll and smash attacks. Never gonna get close to tourney level
>>
>>321548423
They'd probably be really good at faking them though
>>
>>321548347
I think I could fuck a girl like her. I mean, she banged Johnny Depp, and I'm not too far behind in terms of facial attractiveness.

22 hours on KF
388 hours on TF2

I only named the few I'm not too frustrated about. When I play Dark Souls II or MKX, I get blasted all day long, for real. It just becomes a pain at that point so I quit.
>>
>>321548495
It's kinda sad how DOTA, and probably CSGO is the kind of a game where u can train hard, but you'll never beat the people who are naturally talented
>>
>tfw moderately good at almost all games and really good at a few
Feels really good, the difference between competitive matches and pubs is night and day too.
>>
>>321548557
I have slow reflexes and even my thoughts get hung up sometimes, I fucking hate it. It's probably because I'm a fatass as well
>>
>>321548663
Accepting that there is always someone better than you is one of the steps to finally being happy with life.
>>
>>321548210

You like video games eh? Try playing something other than garbage and fps's then
>>
>>321548210
Anon, I'll play dota with you and make you not shit at it.
>>
>>321548737
Well that's why you're shit, son.

Maybe you need to lose some weight. Or drink more water. Being dehydrated slows my reflexes by quite a bit.
>>
I don't really care for exploration in videogames, so some would argue that I'm shit at vidya because of my tastes

That's actually true, you're probably high on sugar all the time, that numbs your mind.

When you start eating healthy and exercising and stop the sugar you'll notice your mind is a lot clearer and faster.
Happened to my father, who had diabetes and is now much healthier. He described it as getting some clog off his mind.

Just believe anon, and don't despair!

i stopped caring about being good at video games after i was destroyed in halo 2 by the most popular guy in my middle school. he was the star football player, too. i played halo 2 for hours every day after school, it's all i did and was even remotely ok at. and he jumps into a game one afternoon and blows me the fuck out. i realized that some people are just better at some things and i would have to find my own thing, which was not video games. but it did ruin my week and i'm pretty sure i cried, that i was beaten by this kid both at real life and in my own world.
>>
>>321548210
Some people are able to pick up a game in a few hours, some take hundreds of hours. I'm sure there are people with 1k+ hours in those games who still need another 1k hours to get good.

Except for Ryse, though. I can't comment on the game so much as I haven't played it, but it looks like a cinematic hack-and-slash. It shouldn't be too difficult to git gud at it. Like other hack-and-slashes, I'm guessing that on harder difficulties the key will be learning how to parry/block most effectively. When getting into fights, calm yourself down and slow yourself down and focus on the attacks the enemies do rather than the attacks you do.

But, what am I saying, I also suck at most video games. I can't even play multiplayer games or else I'll erupt in a fit of rage like the petulant manchild I am.
>>
Eh, games like CS have ranks for a reason.
>>
>>321548210
Okay, you have to understand that there is a major difference between "playing a game" and "practicing a game". Just as there's a difference between "playing to have fun or win" and "playing to learn".

How often do you do the former but not the latter?
>>

I know that feel, I played wow for years, never did any raids besides naxxramas and vault in wrath and I felt like a magikarp spamming splash and flail when I tried arena. I blame anxiety, get butthole clenching tense when I play games. Lately I've been getting a great kegel workout when I play hotline Miami. Competitive shooters are the worst though, especially on console. Played tf2 for a bit, basically just would be medic or get my butt raped
>>
>>321548663
that's not sad that's life you asshole

if you can't have fun with something while not being the best at it you should probably reevaluate your outlook on life.

I remember back in high school I tried to play through Megaman 1 and just giving up after being stuck on Elecman and Gutsman levels for like an hour.

Fast forward to years later I replayed the game and didn't have nearly as much trouble anymore. In fact, since then I've completed all of the classic Megaman games.

My advice to OP. Take things slow, really think about your moves. Don't just try to run and gun through everything like a madman.
>>
>>321548661

Hmm, you should be somewhat decent at both KF and TF2 by then. I don't even know, just find a class/perk you enjoy and go from there? These aren't terribly complicated games, you don't even need to read up on them, your subconscious does all the work ,the more you play the better you get at moving on the map, engaging the enemy etc. Perhaps you focus too much on winning, play to have fun instead. Dunno man. How is your aim and reflexes?

>>321548737
Why don't you played turn based strategy? You don't need reflexes for that shit. Or even dragon age/baldur's gate system, or hearthstone?

Just asking, what's your win/lose ratio in dota?
>>
>>321549687

Watch youtube tutorials on Dorf Fort instead. You can play and learn at the same time and it gives you a good basic grasp of the game.
>>
Just play them for fun, I'm 23 and I've always been shit at vidya (though I guess I've gotten better since high school) but I never took it to heart.

Also online multiplayer games suck dick today, although in the case of Killing Floor you need to level up to get better at it.

>>321549347
Being "high on sugar" does not "numb your mind".
In fact, you can't actually "get high" on sugar, no matter how much you ingest.
Secondly, sugar does nothing whatsoever to your reflexes or cognitive functions, aside from triggering a small dopamine rush.

You saying that "your father experienced it" because he was diabetic is the same as saying "your father experienced fatigue" because he lost two liters of blood and you're comparing it to someone who was tired and got a paper cut.
>>
>>321549180
i am certified casual and definitely ok with it. at least in the context of online/multiplayer games. all of my friends are better than me, so i pick whatever character or loadout sounds the funniest. i try to do my best in tf2 but sometimes you just have to accept that you will not be winning any rounds today. single player games are ez and i'm confident i could beat any of them, since i'm up against a computer that can do only so much against me. it's getting into the heads of other players that i can't figure out.

as long as you maintain a healthy body and don't develop any weird illness that could fuck up your thinking and motor skills (Alzheimer Disease, Arthritis), you can game competitively well into old age easy.

You don't see it because old people, by and large, aren't into video games, but you take William Shatner for example. He's 84 years old and his mind is still sharp as a tack, he speaks very well in interviews for a man his age. I'm certain he'd do well in video games if that were a thing he was into.

stupid as it may sound, i have actually learned at least two good lessons from games. the other one is that acquiring more possessions doesn't make me happier. i learned this from Forza, where i'd start out with a shitty hatchback, customize and tune it, grow attached and have a lot of fun winning the initial races. the more cars i was able to win and buy, the less i cared about my old ricer, and winning 3 ferraris a day just felt like business as usual. soon i didn't care about any of them, they were just toys and tools. i have noticed this with stuff in real life, too. i'm not arguing that you should become an ascetic but i do encourage cutting back a bit.

Bro you're not shit at video games. You need to get fit.

Getting fit isn't even losing all of your body fat, bro.
You're not perfect the way you are but you can slowly improve yourself by taking baby steps everyday.
Start with cooking for yourself.
You have to physically move your body to prepare your meals. You have to think for yourself about your meals and look at what you are cooking with. You don't have to buy disgusting health meme foods.

Eating healthy is literally the conscious act of preparing your ingredients and using them in your meals. Eating healthy is working your muscles to promote stronger cognitive thinking and improve reaction times. You have to have fun with your life and enjoy the passion of cooking for yourself.

Seriously man being healthy isn't all about just being skinny and vegan memes. You can be a big guy and a smart guy by doing this very easy thing I have spelled out for you. God bless and merry christmas.
>>
I usually just play single-player and co-op games so I don't feel too obliged to keep up a skill level. I enjoy mastering certain systems and whatnot, but I know there's always gonna be some guy who gives it the beans and completely destroys me. You can't do anything, it's up to him to git gud.

I am a firm believer in that every time you lose, you get better so long as you look back on the mistakes you made and remember those mistakes in the next match.

The more you beat him, the more satisfying it will be when he finally beats you and eventually get on your level.

I have a friend that hates losing and doesn't actually believe that there's anything to be gained on getting rekt. He's shit at games because he just abandons every losing game and just goes to the next game, using the same strategies.

you're too old for those games. your limbs and ligaments can't react fast enough. try turn based games...FF Tactics, for one. Or really...any RPG, but not diablo because it requires too much clicking for someone of your age. try summonstrike.com perhaps - if you just want to jump in to a turn based game.

I'm average at league mechanically and in teamfights, but i get over emotional so i get cocky when ahead and tilt hard when behind. First 6 minutes of the game, i dominate in cs and lane pressure, trades, avoiding ganks, etc. From there, i steadily get worse in the midgame, then am okay at endgame.

I can win 1v1s against plats because i know zone ranges and matchups well, but when it comes to playing a full game of full on league, i'm def a bronzie.
