It doesn't suppress emotions at all. It suppresses fear and enhances reflexes while making them sterile. He's stoic (or rather, pretends to be) because it lends to his front of being a badass wandering monster killer but anyone who knows the story, knows him, and has read the books especially, knows he's a giant softie and all the other witchers are emotional as fuck 99% of the time. You're confusing emotionlessness with logic in the face of demanding circumstances.
