Pretty optimistic. I like him as a character since all he wants to do is help you and find his sun, unlike the others ( a la Lautrec). I love how theres bits and pieces in the world, hinting at his origin before becoming undead and coming to Lordran.

It's been awhile since I played but there's some cool lore that says he's Gwyn's firstborn son or something, and that he used to be a god of the sun or a deity or something. Then something about memory damage, and all he can focus on is the sun or something.

He's a good guy, I made sure to save him during my second playthrough because I fucked up during my first.
>>
>>321548790
>>321549614
What these anons said, it'd break the immersion you've set for yourself if you knew events that haven't happened yet. Though if you want to keep Reah alive, which I suggest you do, you can just bullshit some headcanon bit about being told Petrus would kill her, or you have a vision or something, or whatever.

Or just "stop" roleplaying for a bit (basically get out of the mind of your character to do game mechanic stuff like grinding, etc etc), kill him, then just assume RPing and act like you didn't do it. It's easy.
>>
>>321548624
I guess if you get all the available dialogue hints you would be pretty suspicious of Petrus, but I'm not sure if that's enough to kill him. Definitely do avenge Reah once she's dead, though.

I think you'll have no choice but to kill Patches once you tell him you're a cleric.

Also I recommend doing Pinwheel first, it's the most Cleric thing to do. He's actually a kind of decent fight with a +0 mace.
>>
>>321550426
Why wouldn't you just lie to Patches? Because the player would in fact be a Cleric, or because lying isn't very Cleric-like?

Like most undeads, they don't all start killing innocents for that. At least until they turn hollow.

You can kill the bug from the door with pyromancers spells. Apparently hitting Solaire once will turn him hostile, you can then go kill the bugs, then go to Oswald to pay for your sin.

>heads to Anor Lando to meet his god in person
>Finds it abanadoned
I never thought about this, but I guess it makes perfect sense in regards as to what Lautrec's business up there was.

Though
>Kills himslef
I don't think so. You're the one who kills him. Why he doesn't come back to life is anyone's guess but you could ask that about a lot of the characters in the game. The Undead Curse is honestly the most out of place thing in the lore and creates more questions than it answers. The setting would still work without it with some minor rewrites.
>>
>>321555792
Since Lautrec is also undead, killing him once doesn't stop him, it just allows you to get the firekeeper soul back from him.
He probably managed to kill Bonnie and Clyde, met up with Gwynevere's illusion and understood that all the gods left, including Velka. Desperate, he became hollow and got killed.

There is that thing where the player gets soft humanity if he he kills a certain normal mob in an area before you defeat the boss.
I think there is a bug that allows you to teleport from Undead parish to Duke's archives and kill one hollow soldier for one humanity each time you warp.

At leas that's what I did to get those damn 30 humanity.

>>321539497
>>
>>321559310
No, no. Only do one falling attack, bud. Dodging in souls games is more about timing. If you look at any dark souls runner/good player, you'll see that more often than not, they dodge into an enemy/through an attack. Dodging gives you a few frames of invincibility, which can cancel out the frames of damage an attack gives. Try timing your rolls so that you enter it right as his attack hits.
>>
>>321560227
I've been trying that and I seem to mess up the timing a lot. Have you played monster hunter before? Should I dodge similar to that?
>>
>>321560351
What's your carry weight look like? Even for a heavy armour character, try and only use 50% equip weight so your rolls aren't completely shit.
>>
>>321557713
The Sacred Ashes in Dark Souls 2 hint that there was a saint who linked the Fire. That's about all the evidence. It's not canon if it's Sunbro or not, but the fact that the Warriors of Sunlight are still around, and their spells talk about a "grossly incandescent father" sort of hints at it.
>>
>>321560351
Never played monster hunter before, so I wouldn't know. Personally, when I'm playing Dark Souls, I twitch-reflex while doding. You'll get a hang of the dodging system if you've made it to Taurus.

If my memory serves me correctly, taurus will back away if you advance enough toward him. Try and keep away from his attacks (they have a surprisingly short range). If you can't do that, then dodge.

All I gotta say is learn to take advantage of your I-Frames, and don't rely on armour too much.

You can also block most physical attacks with your shield, believe it or not. That includes Taurus.
>>
>>321560351
Dodging like it's MH will get you punked. It's more like Bayonetta desu.
>>
So, I've never actually beaten Dark Souls 1.

I've played every Souls game except Dark Souls. I've beaten the DLC of every Souls games except Dark Souls.

This Christmas I got Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition.

After beating Ludwig and Orphan Kos without summoning, how tough of a time am I going to have on Ornstein and Smough? These guys are considered the hardest Souls boss fight, right?
>>
>>321560574
It's the Chosen Undead and all the others who linked the fire between then and the present. It's not evidence for Solaire having linked the fire in any way.

Also
>implying Warriors of Sunlight is anything other than lore deprived pandering of the same level as Old Dragonslayer
>>
>>321560526
I have under 50% carry weight, someone told me about that recently.

>>321560672
>You'll get a hang of the dodging system if you've made it to Taurus.
I've been blocking everything, actually, so that's probably why I need more practice.

>>321560682
Alright, I'll try that as well.
>>
>>321560836
Well, yeah, dude. I said that that really vague item description was about all the hard evidence there was. I never said it was definitive proof.

>implying things that exist in the game aren't canon because you say so

It's in the game. Even if it's obvious pandering, you don't get to cherry-pick the lore.
>>
>>321560832
They're not that hard, but it can take a while to get used to fighting what is essentially two completely different bosses (as opposed to gargoyles, which was two of the same boss) at once. Once you've got down the timing for dodging them it's a lot easier.

It's also a lot easier to kill Ornstein first. Like seriously I can kill Ornstein and then Super Smough no problem, but I have never once been able to beat Super Ornstein.
