So when does this game get hard? Because so far it's just given me a stockpile of hugely over leveled Pokemon and every mission after Axew's feels pointlessly brainless.
>>
Everyone will tell you it's around the Poliwrath part but honestly the game is pretty easy if you have any common sense and stockpile reviver seeds. It's a fun game, probably the best mystery dungeon, but it's not that difficult
>>
>>321535652
Do I have to equip the looplets as hold items for them to take effect?
>>
>>321535768
Yes, obviously
>>
Are you actually expecting a game for 5 year old kids to ever be hard?
>>
>>321535860
I guess I bought into /v/ saying the game was surprisingly difficult and goty.

>>321535652
I'll keep going I guess. I find it strange that the game just hands you Dragonite, Alakazam and other level 50+ Pokemon when my main character is only 15-ish, and there seems to be no penalty for using them. I have been avoiding them just to keep things interesting.

I love JRPGs usually but turn based combat and team building just isnt that fun unless there is sufficient challenge to make it strategic.
>>
>>321536318
Well in regards to the OP Pokemon the game gives you, you can only really use them once during the main game so they don't help that much. Btw starting the game game with tepig is easy mode
>dat early flamethrower
>>
>>321536318
If you use a higher leveled Pokemon on a mission they'll take a vacation afterwards and be unavailable for a number of expeditions

The game IS hard, no two ways about it. Don't pretend that the game punishing you for not being prepared for situations such as being 2-shotted by AoE attacks from across the room aren't hard.

Also, the level 50+ Pokemon are one-time nukes who become unavailable for a long time after use. They're also not allowed for the story missions of course.

Enjoy Razor Wind Heliolisks and later on Unburden Ominous Wind Drifblims
>>
>>321537169
Don't listen to him OP. This game is not hard at all except for maybe the final boss. Anyone who actually has a problem beating this game is literally a child
>>
Reviver seeds or not, having a single enemy oneshot all 3 party members with Hydro Pump is a bit ridiculous.
The game's pretty hard since the story does not give you many opportunities to level up and exp is quite scarce. I eventually found myself packing 20 revivier seeds just in case.
>>
>>321538096
>not farming missions
the best way to earn easy exp is just to hoard as many missions in the same dungeon as possible and then completing all of them at once and finishing the dungeon which unlocks more dungeons.
>>
>The second dungeon has pokemon capeable of two shotting you

This is my first mystery dungeon game, and I really didn't expect it to be as reliant on items as it is.

Do you ever get bag upgrades? Current storrage space feels impossible to work with
>>
>>321538348
I'm aware, but the later chapters don't grant you this opportunity. You move from story mission to story mission whether you like it or not. Enemies grow stronger while your strength remains as stagnant as ever.

Or that Seadra that uses Hyrda pump and one shots half of your team then evolves.

>no manual recruitment, can't make a party of more than one of the same kind of pokemon
>no quest board
>can't take recruited pokemon on story mission, so you can't have a party that sticks with you and reacts to story events like in previous games

I just feel let down, everyone else keeps praising it but I enjoyed Sky much more, they even could have fixed the bullshit legendary and rare pokemon recruitment problem by just making their success rate much higher or even guarenteed
>>

>>
>>321536689
>>321536761
Hmm I didn't know this, I guess because I was trying to avoid using them anyway.

Is there any way to tell how long a Pokemon will be unavailable for, before you actually use them?
>>
i don't think the game is that hard because as someone said you can get plenty of reviver seed which give you many many many chance to fuck up

however it's surprisingly easy to get killed and waste your seeds, several move can one shot you and several things can go wrong so it's harder than your average game
>>
>>321535652
Nah, Sky is still better.

Connection orb is fucking shit.
>>
>>321538872
Epic
>>
>>321538879
I usually keep a certain level difference. Going from 10 for my character and using a 50 for one expedition means I won't be seeing them for 5 or so expeditions or days (at least for me).

My rule of thumb was sticking to partners close to your current level and using the level 50 guys for really difficult parts you come across.

The real pain comes from long distance attacks like a Hydro Pump landing a critical on a teammate.
>>
>>321538721
also no money for completing quests, no random generated quests, etc

Is there anything as bullshit in this game as the Aerodactyl Agility + Venomoth Silver Wind combo?

>okay I want to recruit X pokemon

the connection orb is also basically the quest board.
>>
>>321539719
It's not.

>>321539789
It's one of the very few people with a shitty opinion over this game.
>>
>>321538959
Connection orb is great.

Fuck anyone that tries to imply going up 80 floor dungeons for a .01% chance to recruit a Pokemon is good or fun
>>
>>321539939
The first, Gates is still a massive pile of dogshit

>>321539967
Basic changes to the recruitment system could have easily remedied that, and the orb quests don't get you money, aren't randomized, and there aren't an infinite number of them
>>
>>321539967
>Exeggcute

FUCK YOUR 0.5% SPAWN RATE

That could have been fixed with insta-recruit instead of revamping the whole system.

I got so fucking tired of GREAT JOB and CONNECTED animations.

no, it just outright says it at the beginning, your end goal is to be human again

Clearing some stuff up.

Most of the difficulty cones from Type match ups. I forgot the order, but Fire types tend to go up against a Water Dungeon real early when they might not be prepared and Fighting Types have a dungeon or two near the end after you've wasted lots of resources.

You MUST USE ITEMS. DO NOT try to hoard them. Always carry a Petrify/Slumber Orb in case you run into a Monster House. Also, you can have 40 of one wand type but it will only cost one item slot in your bag. Use them.

You will always be underleveled. The game is stingy with XP. Make sure to use Alliances and Blast seeds. You get loads of apples to remove hunger.

The game is stingy with XP. You will always be under leveled, so don't try to grind too much.

All Drifblim must be hit with Stay away Wands.

The MC should always have the Weather Looplet.

Really, your only objective is to protect that smile.
>>
>>321541642
>protect that smile

I was sort of bummed out when I eventually got that smile back. The dungeon wasn't nearly as bad until I kept getting hit by some AOE just by entering the room. 10/10 final boss music though.
>>
>>321538721
I felt exactly the same way. I mean, I really still enjoy it, I just miss having that personalizing touch of naming characters. I think it's just me being nitpicky though and have this unnecessary worry that I'll "run out of things to do" since I don't have anyone telling me what to do instead of doing it myself.

Quest board gives an infinite amount of randomly generated missions. You have less than 720 with Connection Orbs (I say less than since some you recruit at the cafe or randomly finding in dungeons). The Explorers games used to have online rescue missions where you could send an SOS via Wi-Fi and help other players out, while you have to look for people posting SOS mail with QR codes online, which is much more tedious to find since they'll be all over the place instead of just in one spot.

Not dissing PSMD too much, it's my second favorite, but Connection Orbs and no online rescues dropped the ball in that aspect.
>>
>>321542694
>where you could send an SOS via Wi-Fi and help other players out
>not having to search for them yourself

fug, that alone I feel like would've eased people's concerns about limited missions
>>
>>321542694
Missions are so generic I worry that I'll even be able to do 600+ before getting bored.
>>
>>321543172
It's like the devs forgot that the goal of missions was to get your rank up, not to RECRUIT THEM ALL!
>>
>>321537465
The final boss is piss easy as well. It gives you multiple turns to prepare for its attacks and even tells you where it will attack.
>>
>>321538842

Yeah, because we totally know how the game is going to play out in advance.
>>
>>321544896
You get golden bars which you could use to convert to useful things like Vitamins which could supplement your lack of EXP growth. You could also use them to buy TMs like Ice Beam and T-Bolt to cover your movepool. That's what I did, started with Squirtle and Pikachu and bought them to get better ranged options.
>>
>>321544896
Also if possible, buy all the passes as soon as you can. I wish I realized this sooner but different towns sell different things, so if you're running out of supplies, hit up those shops to see if you could help stockpile shit for future missions.
>>
Is there a limited number of TMs? I am afraid of wasting them.

This was my first mystery dungeon game.

I know the other ones had two releases at the same time. Are they like traditional pokemon where theyre the exact same game just with different pokemon you can find?
>>
>>321546684
Yes, they're exactly that, and Explorers even has a third version like the games (which obviously should be the one you play if you play it).
>>
>>321546684
Also for some reason Red Rescue Team was on GBA while Blue Rescue Team was on DS.
>>
>>321547480
Yeah, I think they just wanted to be inclusive since the DS just came out and not everyone had it. I'd recommend Blue for the better music quality (in most places, Red edges it out for a few songs if I remember correctly) but they're the exact same game.
