Basically follow a Chikage build to the tee, the two work well together actually.
So I'd say go for 25 dex and 50 bt, if you're going to use the Chikage as well pour as much as you can into Vit. You probably want around 20 in end.
I always recommend going for 15 arcane because some of those tools are fun, but its probably better being in other stats.
Just so you know phys up gems effect both regular and blood damage so they are amazing on the bowblade. Also you can cheese Simon very early.

They're pretty similar, and being buffable is very nice considering that Simons Bowblade can't be.

No, the base stat requirements are too high in my opinion. If you're not a minmaxing tryhard like me go ahead, but if you want to squeeze the most out of your build, use a gem'd Saw Spear instead.
The basic setup for your standard pure Arcane build is:

Having another offensive stat really helps, considering most of the better weapons have Arcane scaling you cant really go wrong.

Not the guy but the way I like to play is I'll beat the boss solo in my world and then ring the small resonant bell right after to help other people.
It feels so good to be able to help others out who are struggling. I must have helped at least 10 people beat Ludwig. It's always funner with the big bosses that stagger less.

First time going through the DLC area was with an Arcane build. A lot of things are weak to a buffed Tontrius, so it's not all that hard. Also Beast Blood Pellets are your friend against the Living Failures.

You can buy shards and twin shards after a certain point in the game, so it's not too bad. As long as you're not wasting chunks on something you don't think you're gonna be using, you're gonna be alright, because Chunks are fucking expensive.
Pistols are generally worthless as damaging weapons. You mostly just want to use them for parrying.

Secondary weapons (guns) scale with bloodtinge and unless you're making a build around bloodtinge they aren't going to do much damage, with a few exceptions (the cannon being one). They're mostly used for countering enemy attacks, but they work for staggering some (dogs, old men), and getting attention (pebbles are good for this also).
As for the weapon, it's good but there are others that might be more fun for you.

All weapons are viable. If you like it, just keep upgrading it.
You can always make a new character to try different weapons.

Guns are mainly used for parrying and staggering, but there are some guns that can be used for attacking. You should also use bone marrow ash if you want to do extra damage with your gun.
