I need /v/'s help. I read on the wiki that the armor sloping feat applies to riot gear if you make a metal shield with it but I'm still getting the full armor penalty. Have I done something wrong here or does it just not work together

The mind controller from Buzzers shop spares you and thanks you for your cooperation, the group near the Foundry is quite nice and rewards you for info on the cube, the Faceless you save in Core City warns you that They are attacking the Institute and if you stay they will probably try to kill you as well

Underrail is more like Fallout with focus on combat and exploration,.

Age of Decadence is a niche within a niche RPG with huge replayability and focus on heavy roleplaying where you need to specialize.

Free Drones have nice intentions and all but as you said they are just fucking terrorist and cruel at that, while Protectorate is imperialistic, aggressively expansive and has it's share of cruel shit as well like the Chemical Assault team.

I prefer Protectorate out of the two though. Free Drones kicked me out because I spared the envoy they wanted me to kill and their members are mostly bandits.

I'm kind of interested in this game, but I've never played the original Fallouts, and I don't like CRPGs much. I managed to sit through PS:T for the story, but that's about it. Will I like this game?

It's an rpg where you control a single dude and you use guns/fists/lasers/sledgehammers/mind powers/crossbows/knives/grenades/traps/other shit while traveling in an underground world of metro systems and caverns filled with assorted factions, camps, cities, monsters and other shit. It's focused on combat and exploration, and it's great at both. It's not a storyfag rpg, so dun expect deep dialogue or whatever.

Don't do it. I bought into the hype and realize the game is overrated. The writing is terrible and the gameplay is tedious. Granted, Fallout 1 & 2 had boring combat as well, but at least the writing and gameplay options were there to keep me entertained. This? This is what an amateur gives you when you tell him to recreate a classic isometric RPG: a watered-down RPG that tries to substitute its lack of roleplaying depth with a bigger focus on combat options.

Either the game's being shilled hard by the devs, or the slavs here are just getting overly excited about another slav game.

Already doing that, i'm taking everything that has to do with crits and maxing DEX. Cheap Shots is retardedly powerful, +50% unconditional crit damage and the incapacitate proc as a bonus.
Ripper for more crit damage.
Weaponsmith for more crit chance.
Soon i'll make an infused rathound armor for 10% additional crit chance.

I mean shit, even robots can't deal with my crits while my regular hits do 0 damage to them.

Mechanics is useful for everybody.
Making repair kits, armors, all weapons and minimal amounts of mechanics are used for pretty much everything.

There are some grenades that are great even with 0 throwing. Wear a shaded helmet and throw flashbangs under your feet or throw EMP nades under your feet next to bots.

Dodge/evasion are pretty poor, they are only really good for characters using light (0% penalty with nimble) armor and NOT using stealth.
If you use heavy vests or metal armor dodge/eva is useless and if you use stealth correctly you won't be getting hit much anyway and your shield will take care of whatever actually does hit you.
Dodge/eva need massive skill investments to be viable and those skill points are better spent on crafting and exploration skills.

Taking only one combat skill is not advisable, take traps or throwing alongside a weapon skill and if you go psionics don't go only one branch.

So I spent the last half hour trying to min-max character building without actually knowing anything about the game and doing it like it's Fallout 2 but without Gifted. Am I correct in assuming that stats which do not directly apply to the skills and feats of my choice are to be used as dump stats and reduced to the minimum level with no fucks given? Only weapons that can mount 5mm barrels can be silenced, so no sniper rifles, only pistols (and I think one SMG). Crossbows are generally much better in my opinion anyway, since you can use a variety of bolts with them.

There are some scripted fights where you fight alongside allies, but generally no unless you go Psi and get Bilocation. It allows you to create a doppelganging shadow-nigger that fucks enemies in the butts.

You don't really need Evasion if you use crafted energy shields, dodge is far better in that case because shields are shir against melee.

And you can spot traps without traps skill if you equip a good pair of motion detecting goggles, but yeah it's better to have both.

You should mention a taser in the electronics description, it's a great CC option and everyone who has any points in electronics should have one.

Also you should mention that holding Shift basically turns your toolbar into a reloading version of it- you can choose different ammo types to reload your gun with, charge the energy shield etc.

And you should also mention that you can drag pretty much anything to the toolbar to use it, like the night vision goggles or the uitility bot console.

9mm Luger with rapid reloader and laser sight is the most reliable sidearm option available.

High minimal damage so it won't fuck you in the ass when you need to finish someone of, +15% precision so it won't miss nerly as much, 20 base AP means at least 2 or even 4 if you take rapid fire which fires 3 shots at 150% AP cost with reduced precision.

Depends on the situation you put yourself into. There's not many scripted events, but you'll find that walking into areas without stealth will buttfuck you over such as opening a door to some gangsters hideout in the middle of the ghetto.

Not exactly.
With stealth, which you should have as a sniper because of synergizing feats, you can avoid close encounters.
It's just that some enemies have stupidly high mechanical resistance and even crit immunity so you want elemental damage for them form traps/nades.
Not to mention some fights are really tough without any form of crowd control and snipers are basically just huge damage spikes every 3 turns from Aimed Shot criticals and you have no stuns/slows/roots or anything really.

Crafting is generally good and amazing on some builds that want specialized gear and snipers want really really REALLY specialized gear so crafting is amazing for them.
Smart goggles and anatomic scopes are a must for snipers and finding good ones, especially special scoped snipers, is really hard.

Well, the game does take place wholly underground, with all the caves and small spaces that implies. Combined with the fact that you don't get any permanent party members, the powerful-but-slow sniper rifle can be a liability. I'm not saying you can't use it, but you will need a backup.

Only place that happens in is the Arena. Everywhere else you get a chance to prepare as long as you have Stealth.

It's already 30 from the vest - 10 + 200%*10 = 10 + 20. Tabi boots mechanical threshold gets added, also tripled vs bullets if kevlar. They're good because the have no armor penalty but I think they increase the change to get critically hit.
