So how come some Pokemon live in civilized society while others just attack you on site?
>>
because the Pokemon in the mystery dungeons are basically the niggers of that world
>>
>>321493186
DAMN SON

I was about to say something to that effect. But yeah, that is basically it. Think of humans, anon. Some places are more civilized than others, relatively speaking. There's nice neighborhoods, and some where you're shot on sight. Simple.
>>
>>321492535

slums and shitlands vs society

So the pokemon in the dungeons are basically like bandits, thieves, and assholes. They're going to be aggro because that's how they make a living. I mean shit a lot of these guys have secret bases in the mystery dungeon. Luckily for you (the MC) you're in a more privileged situation and as a previous human your bound to end up with more civilized pokes.

That being said a mystery dungeon game where you're a gang of pokemon in a secret mystery base recruiting people who also fights these explorers would be neat.
>>
>>321493734
>So the pokemon in the dungeons are basically like bandits, thieves, and assholes.

This means every time you defeat them and recruit them, you're taking terrorists home.
>>
I haven't played since Red Rescue Team but I think it was something to the effect of them being super pissed off that natural disasters destroyed their homes.
>>
>>321493882
Everyone has the potential to be a dick or asshole, I think the last game basically shows this.

MC is there to show them a way, and recruit the various misfits in the world so they become less of an asshole.
>>
or we could consider the manga and conclude that it was all a dream
>>
>>321493882

Well they're not really terrorist. You're just stepping in the rape alley and you're getting raped. It's kind of a case of what did you expect. If anything you're taking them out of the slums and making them better people.
>>
>>321494296
Games are canon, manga isn't. They literally explain in the game why some mons act up and attack you.

Since all the weird shit and natural problems going on in the world causes some people to act out or whatever in a panic or anger. All these mystery dungeons about, and mons can feel that the world is in some deep shit. I don't know, they gave some actual explanation at the beginning of each game.
>>
I believe they said in the beginning of Explorers of Sky that Mystery Dungeons cause Pokemon to become enraged
>>
>>321494796
by god i think your right
>>
>>321494964
The first games had them disturbed by natural disasters
Second game was some time distortion bullshit driving them insane
Third game was basically them being assholes.
>>
>>321492535
From what I remember in the first games, R&B rescue team, the mystery dungeons kind of made all the Pokemon aggressive for stepping into their territory.

Some Pokemon like to live together, while a large majority enjoy their own lives as "wild" Pokemon, but their territories are screwed up when the mystery dungeons started showing up, and they got pissed

Super is the best PMD game.
>>
>>321492535
Do the Mystery Dungeon games get better?
I got Blue here and its really fucking barebones.
>>
>>321495853
Yes, they get much better (disregarding Gates to Infinity), but it'd help if you elaborate on what you mean by barebones in Blue. Super has more content than ever.

They add new mechanics and such but if you dislike the gameplay of the original I don't think you'll like the sequels.

>>321496034
I just got Super and I'm loving it, but I'm worried about content drying up eventually. I know 720 Connection Orbs is a ton but it's still a finite number, and I was absolutely crushed when I found out there was no Wi-Fi rescue and it was local/password only, I figured that could lengthen the game even more because I rescued the shit out of people in Explorers when DS Wi-Fi was up. Is there anything to do at all after you recruit everyone, other than the Level 1 dungeons and such?
>>
>>321492535

Just beat the Litwicks. Does the game change much from here on out?

>you can't evolve until you beat the game

Who thought this was a good idea? I started trying to get into this series until i read that info.
>>
>>321496206
You can still rescue people by going on miiverse and finding QR codes to scan and rescue. Its got its own little community of rescuers there that have gotten me out of some tight spots.

And I don't actually know. I've never gotten far in post-game on any PMD game. I usually quit after playing a small bit of post-game.

You get even more freedom once you leave town. And after you leave town the story starts moving somewhere and getting serious.
Otherwise its more of the same.
>>
>>321496490
You'd be overpowered. Its not like you level up enough to fully evolve by the end of any of these games story wise anyways. And besides, there's something endearing about the idea of being a little child working your way up the ranks beating the crap out of high caliber Pokemon as your measly self

Would it make you feel any better if I said that in Super's story you evolve temporarily at parts for story reasons?
>>
>>321497106
Well technically they attack you on their sites.

>You'd be overpowered.
But that's not true, evolution barely adds anything to your stats compared to the huge boosts that shit like Gummis will get you (though that might be different in PSMD since Gummis are gone). I'm pretty sure evolution is barred off so they don't have to make as many expressions. Then they made a temporary evolution plot point in PSMD and made them anyway.
>>
>>321492535
Its explained that Mystery Dungeons tend to enrage the pokemon living in the area, causing them to act out of order.

And there are also some Pokemon that are incredibly territorial.
>>
>>321497231

Smugleaf best starter
>>
>>321497231
But in Super, during those temporary evolution moments, evolution makes you stronger and gives you more HP. Or did those moments also increase your level?

I'm using Smugleaf right now and I'm actually kind of disappointed in his lack of emotion in his expressions. I know it fits the species somewhat but I feel like the game's calling me autistic like that one Deviantart thing. He even holds his arms behind him like Sonic in his running animation.
>>
>>321497231
Why do a few of these parts have blue squares over them?
>>
>>321497559
Because there isn't an intermediate evolution between Pikachu/Riolu and Raichu/Lucario, and Greninja has two sets of sprites (due to the asymmetical face) but Frogadier doesn't.
>>
>No Eevee starter
>>
>>321497701
Eevee's hopping animation in Explorers was so fucking adorable.
>>
>>321497539
>cubone once again excluded

Aside from that horrific oversight, is the new Mystery Dungeon game a worthy successor to the Explorer games?

Carnivores still gotta eat.

The civilized Pokemon can eat the uncivilized ones and not feel bad about it.
>>
>>321497976
Its better than Explorers.
>>
>>321497976
It's pretty alright so far. I'm almost at the point where you leave your village I think and I hear it picks up a ton after that, gameplay-wise the game's a solid improvement, though I miss IQ being a stat. Still not sure how I feel about the Connection Orbs replacing regular missions, but even if it isn't as good as the Explorer games it's pretty tight for what it is, much better than Gates.
>>
>>321496930

This. Looking forward to my badass Dewott/Grovyle duo once I beat the game.
>>
>>321492535
It depends on the game.

In Rescue Team and Explorers, plot events are literally driving them to insanity. In Super Mystery Dungeon, the non-talkative enemy Pokemon are explicitly stated to be illusions created by the Mystery Dungeons themselves rather than real Pokemon.

Who cares about the other games.
>>
>>321498448
I thought the illusions were only in the Voidlands
>>
>>321498448
>the non-talkative enemy Pokemon are explicitly stated to be illusions created by the Mystery Dungeons themselves rather than real Pokemon.

Pretty sure this only referred to enemy Pokemon in the voidlands
>>
>>321498448
Gates isn't THAT bad, is it? Is it a bad game, or just a bad PMD game?
>>
>>321500438
Gates is a fine game, it just didn't live up to being as good as sky
>>
>>321492535
In previous games, in Explorers and Rescue, the explanation is that the weird phenomena going on is twisting and heavily upsetting some of the pokemon, making them aggressive.
>>
>>321492535
>attack you on site?
>>321497106
I swear it's like some people are intentionally getting dumber in order to win a prize or some shit.
>>
>>321492535

Savages. Notice how you never see enemy Gardevoir except for an obscure dungeon in sky?
>>
So when does this game get hard? Because so far it's just given me a stockpile of hugely over leveled Pokemon and I haven't been in a situation that can't be solved by withdrawing a small fraction of the items in my deposit box
>>
I like how you're not stuck with the one the game gives you this time around, you actually get some choice in the matter.

although mine would probably be still cyndaquil regardless
