I really wanted to play it after watching ep VII. Really, only thing they had to do was to make a servicable BF game, just a clone of past battlefronts or battlefields. But they didn't. They made a bland, boring piece of crap which looks pretty but has close to 0 replay value.
It really is a shame, but I will resist buying it.

EA for the last decade has been a money first company
Not business first like Activision
Not client like GoG/Project Red
Money
That's what has hurt there PR and has made them so infamous with buyers
That's what made them do stupid shit like pull all their steam titles because they launch Origion and just thought people would move over for their precious games
Its what lead to them gutting content on disc to make dlc with their big titles
And above all more than once they have played chicken with dying games (Tor) before being force to change the formula and even then they botched it to make sure money was a constant need to enjoy the product to any level

The new Battlefront is not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. That it's a 'good' game, though - it's easily one of the most 'okay' games I've ever played.
In visual presentation and atmosphere absolutely everything is 110% Star Wars to the point where I would say that it's the most Star Wars feeling game I've ever played. Gameplay wise it is certainly not the best, abd it all really boils down to an incredibly average FPS experience with some really annoying niggles like Homing Shot which are just plain frustrating because they're just so fucking good. The customisation options for the Stormtroopers are also completely garbage - there are a whole four helmet-on options (default male/female, Scout Trooper at really high rank and Shadow Trooper at max rank) with the rest being dozens of helmetless heads copy/pasted from the Rebel side, including an old-ass man and woman.
The exceptions to this theme are definitely the heroes. Playing as a hero is fun as all fuck and I would say it's one of the few areas of the game that they absolutely nailed perfectly. Heroes vs. Villains mode is also incredibly fun with a couple of friends when you're all playing heroes together.
All in all I'd give it a 6.5/10, moving up to 7/10 if you really, really like Star Wars to the point where the sheer Star Wars-ness of everything compensates for the failings in gameplay (like myself).
