so how is it?
>>
>>321383620
Not as good as Turok 2, which they should have released first and said fuck it to the first.
>>
>>321383940
Well wait a minute here Turok 1 is good though. The first two games were fantastic from what I remember. After that is when it got worst.
>>
>>321384006
But Turok 2 is really the only one you HAVE to play.
Turok one was good before 2 came out and 2 just blew it out of the water.
>>
>>321383620
I played it a decade ago and I seriously can't see why they should be allowed to call that a remaster when it is the same shit like back then.

I mean holy shit I could force higher resolutions even before the "remaster"
>>
>>321383940
Or for the $20 they're charging, just release both as one package.
>>
>>321384080
I disagree, Turok 2 is better but 1 is still worth playing and I enjoyed it even though I played turok 2 first.
>>
>>321384080
But 2 is going to come anyways though. It would make no fucking sense for them to skip 1 since 1 is what started the series you know? If anything they could have bundled 1 and 2 into one package for that steep $20 price point.
>>
>>321384006
Turok 1 was good for the time but not excellent.

The port runs at 60 fps which is fucking amazing compared to the original n64. But all the bullshit is still there.

Those checkpoint saves? still there.

The first person platforming? still there.

The lives system? still there.

Now I'm a Turok fanboy, it's one of my favorite franchises, but the first isn't worth too much of a look nowadays. Get it on a sale for the nostalgia anon. The $20 is too much for the game. It doesn't update it enough to be worth that much.

Still it's a good surprise to see the franchise after that shitastic reboot. We need more dinosaur murdering games, and I'm actually liable to pick up Turok 2 because Turok 2 is fucking god tier.
>>
>>321383620
Best game all year.
>>
>>321384291
Chalk me up as another person who would be fine with a $20 bundle. I'd be fine paying $15 for Turok 2, not so much the first.
>>
>>321384420
Lack of proper saves is a bit ass. At the least they could have added those, and then had an authentic difficulty option on the side that is checkpoints-only.

Not sure how you'd address the platforming as its a bit grounded in the game's design, outside of just throwing little wooden planks between every gap in the stages.
>>
>>321383940
>>321384080
Turok 2 is better when it comes to superfluous things like animations and gore but 1 is better where it really count: the gameplay. 1 is faster with more enemies and better level design and bosses.
>>
I just want to play a version of Turok 2 at more than 15fps, FoV of more than 40, and draw distance of more than 15 feet.
>>
>>321384006
I replayed the first Turok recently and the controls were so dog shit I castrated myself just to make sure my children would never have to endure such a terrible control scheme.
>>
Turok evolution was the best Turok game
>>
>>321384727
>Turok controls
>bad
I mean, they're no KB/M but it's the best you'll ever get out of a regular console controller for an FPS.
>>
>>321384846
Okay this is b8. That N64 controller while I had no problems using it when I was a kid are absolutely not optimal at all for FPS games. Don't even joke like that anon.
>>
>>321384617
I'm mostly talking about the bullshit parts where we have twenty consecutive jumps you have to make over instant-death.

The game could've used a face-lift too because it comes from the age of 3D graphics that didn't age well at all. I mean they are asking for 20$ for it.

>>321384727
On the console? yea the n64 controller was ass. I don't know how I even managed.
>>
>>321385031
But that's just wrong, the N64 controller is pretty fucking great for the fps genre. C-buttons for movement and stick for aiming mimics WASD and a mouse rather well, better than that dual analog shit.
>>
>>321385105
>The game could've used a face-lift too because it comes from the age of 3D graphics that didn't age well at all.

You can fuck right off with this. I hate you faggots that can't stand "old dated" graphics. Don't like old graphics? Then don't play the games to bitch like a little fag.

Turok Remastered isn't a port of the n64 game or a re-release of the original PC version to Steam/modern system, it was literally remade from scratch on a brand new engine without the game's source code; the kind of thing Bloodfags have been praying for for over a decade.

>no fancy lighting or water effects or whatever
>>
>>321386660
2 had definite failings. Like levels that went on for-fucking-ever. And some awful design choices. I don't think I ever finished Lair of the Blind Ones because I couldn't find what I was supposed to do and it just leads you in circles.
>>
>>321386660
I always liked 1 more since it was more action packed, the levels didn't drag on, and the weapons were all useful. Because let's be real here, as cool as 2's guns are, half of them are useless gimmick weapons, like the PFM Minelayer, Sunfire Pod, and yes, even the Cerebral Bore.

No, but 20$ is still too much.

Anyone interested is still buying that game for nostalgia. I've never had an issue playing Turok on the console despite the flaws. So, there has to be a reason big enough for me to care. And minor differences aren't worth the 20$ when there are games like FEAR I can buy right now for 10$ that completely shit all over Turok.

No.
Graphics have been improved, albeit in only technical ways like running at 60fps, having a much greater draw distance, having new lighting and water effects and shit, having the option for larger field of view, etc., while all the assets stay the same.
Gameplay is a bit different. Some enemies and objects have been moved, and the AI is much more aggressive.

>I'd rather play a brand new game with that money.

They are well worth playing, and it IS a fantastic deal.
What the fuck are you waiting for?
>>
>>321388832
It does not play the same, I can tell you that much.

Since you now have keyboard and mouse controls you can actually aim while moving and aim up or down without any major difficulty so turock turns from a game where you strafed until you were lined up with an enemy and fired, to a game much similar to quake where you aim are constantly moving and aiming and shooting fluidly. A good analogy is going from the tank style old resident evil to the modern resident evil in terms of movement and combat. As a result the game plays much quicker and smoother, the revamped enemy spawns reflect this and will put more enemys above you or in other angles that would have been really awkward to aim at on the n64. All the other changes like the fog and other grafical improvements basically polish what was already present, its still graphically ass when compared to modern shit, but it is great looking for what it is.

to tldr this shit the pace is much much quicker and more aggressive when compared to the n64 version, it is also as smooth as stockings on a waifus legs

>>321390993
Considering that their trailer for their rerelease of System Shock 2 only netted 50k views and ended up selling something like 500k on steam. They probably took the 200k views for Turok as an indication of the projected sales for the game.

Also, them withholding the price for the game until after it was actually released was pretty fishy.

didn't know they re-released this game as a hd remake. i remember turok being the first n64 game i played in 1997. i watched someone at friends house play. game looked fun at the time with all the weapons i seen. it was my turn finally, i picked up the controller and moved around and pressed every button i noticed and didn't know how to attack. everyone was leaving so i never asked how to fire. found out about the z button weeks later.

Why would you emulate it if it has a PC port? I don't understand this logic.

This is why I never finished the game. Fuck that shitty level.

When does Turok hd come to the PS4?

Does turok still hoof it out at the end with a really fucking broken leg?

No but they've been adding various things they probably forgot to include, like green/no blood, based on customer feedback. Let them know about it, because it was a funny as fuck glitch.

Yea, it was cheesy but I'm kinda glad it's not in this turok. I mean it was a funny glitch at the time but it wouldn't be the same if it was intentionally added. Plus it's always gonna be on youtube if I ever get nostalgic.
