they're progressing pretty quickly

So they just do what a Kinect does?
>>321365342
Controllers will probably be the better option for a while, people are going to have a hard time adapting to brand new methods of input using 3D hand gestures.
>>321366913
i think so, some form of 3d cameras
>>321367287
problems will be since cameras are only at one view that collision will be off, and grabbing things aren't completely practical but the sense of seeing your arms/hands/torso adds to immersion/presence
cuckulus

Even if it adds to presence, input will start getting much more complicated because of it whether tracking improves or not.
A shame PS VR is going to be DoA due to its price tag. It needing an external box is going to set it above $300.
>>321368108
All the major headsets plan to be above 300, I don't think PSVR is going to be any more expensive than the rest.
>>321368271
I was under the impression Oculus was targeting $299 after already claiming awhile back that their original $250 target wasn't realistic with all the shit they've added to it over the years.
Nevertheless, going to let others deal with first-gen of the technology, I'll be waiting on v2 or 3 while the software library builds up, assuming this kicks off in a positive way.And for these headsets to become platform agnostic since you can't possibly expect your consumer-base to own a headset for each system they own.
>>321368108
but it's an add on platform and gaming is probably going to be early adopter; in the long run it will be geared towards 360 4k movies/shows
will slowly gather acceptance as everyone is using google cardboard

>episode 8 in oculus/psvr/vive gen2
>>321368456
>$299
They've explicitly stated it won't be below $350, and Palmer's heavily implying pricing in the $400-500 range. Sony has already stated PSVR will cost about as much as a new console, so I'm expecting a $400 price tag on that as well.
>>321368456
>$299
that doesn't include the 980ti sli
>>321365342
Hololens is best one at the moment or do these allow you to see your room with virtually added items?
>>321369108
>$3000
>that FOV
>>321369108
Hololens still has a long ways to go to fix its terrible FoV, latency, and resolution.
>>321369108
Hololens is AR, not VR. Different mediums.
