What's the deal with this expansion? I see it being shown off a lot these days but why is there an official 2015 expansion for a game that came out 15 years ago? Why wasn't this an expansion of Age of Empires 3 or one of the spinoffs?

Why did this series die?
I'd think it's one of the best RTS around considering how much my brother likes it. Is Star Craft so dominating it doesn't allow other games to prosper?

Star Craft is "dominating" the dwindling competitive/streamer scene of RTS as a whole.
Most RTS gamers either play their classic games and bitch endlessly about the modern ones, or play the modern ones for a short time and then abandon them for TBS as they have no playerbase (because of the former players)

As someone who has been playing AoE2 since its release in 1999, I was pretty pleased with the xpacs and the HD version. Did a 3 and a half hour multiplayer match with 8 people and it was amazing.
