Honestly, I don't think GE and MH are that comparable for GE to be a MH killer.
GE is a lot more story and character focused than MH is. It probably has more in common with Toukiden than MH.
It didn't kill MH years ago when they were on the same platform, it sure isn't killing anything when it's on a dead handheld.

I played through God Eater this summer, so I don't see why I would play this if it's just a graphics update.
I wish I'd known then, I would have waited.

It's not just a graphical update, it also brings new mechanics like the predator style, from what I understand God Eater 2 Rage Burst has blood arts and Resurrection has predator styles, those are the biggest differences between the two apart of course apart from the story.

I have a Japanese copy of both games on PS4 Resurrection is GE1 remade using GE2 mechanics and assets, it adds all of GE2's new features, weapons types and another story chapter to bridge the gap between GE1 and GE2
they're releasing both game since no one played GE1B on PSP, and GE2's story assumes you've played GE1 the scenes about teaching the player about the history of the world and aragamis that Koha sleeps through are absent in GE2 and are replaced with general character moments.
