Sm4sh is too heavy on the neutral game, and a lot of the gameplay choices in the game just straight-up make no sense, like the new ledge mechanics and the lack of momentum carried from a run into a jump. That's to say nothing of the lack of movement options (which renders projectile spam a viable option). Hell, even if you're playing the game at the most casual level, the items in Melee are more intuitive than a lot of Sm4sh's new crappy items
Sm4sh wins in terms of visuals and quantity, but quantity isn't everything. If they did a Project M style mod with Sm4sh, I guarantee people would stop taking Sm4sh seriously with a click of the fingers. It offers absolutely nothing positive in terms of gameplay mechanics.
