I didn't get consoles until they're 2-3 years old even back then. Think I bought one in 2002 or early 2003 I forget. GameCube grabbed on in 2004 for like $50 (only played like 4 games on it)

Yeah No. 6th was better then 5 in every way shape and form. 5 may have been the big 3D boom, but the games, while memorable are not as well tooled as they were in 6th gen.

I got my third famicom knock off in fucking 2007-8 and it was for birthday.
My parents are divorced, so at my mom's I got a Gamecube (which i wanted over the ps2) and Super Mario Sunshine (the reason i wanted a gamcube) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
At my dad's i got a modded ps2 (which i still have in good condition and still play), and like 10 third-rate but fun game burnt games like Cookie and Cream, Peter Pan, Experiment 626, Spider-Man, and others
My mom bought us a ps2 and suikoden III. I had never heard of the series before but it's one of my all time favorites. I still kind of wonder how she knew it would appeal to me and my brothers

Windwaker has as much if not more Replay value then OOT and MM combined. Bigger more colorful world to explore, more to do. OOT is simple to the point, and you're done with it in a day.

The most hardcore game you just mentioned is Ocarina of Time for converse reasons, and you just proved my point because it and MM are nothing alike. You couldn't find two games from another series more different than they are.
OoT: Nonlinear action game so deep that even today people like you know nothing about it, with self-aware low rewards (a Gossip Stone even tells you the Gerudo Training Grounds has a sucky item that doesn't merit its challenge), and high physics ceiling (they didn't program all that concusive force into bombs by accident).
MM: Linear, highly scripted adventure game, with a higher reward and lower physics cap (Link's jumps are locked in places you can exploit).
