I must say, I really love Axiom Verge. Probably one of the best Metroidvania out there.
The feature I like the most is that even if you die, you dont lose the progress you made. You respawn and keep the upgrades you got.
Mediocre game at best. Shadow complex still shits on every metroidvania out there.

Shadow complex is great, but Axiom Verge is better in my opinion. A lot of new mechanics where Shadow Complex is more traditionnal.

Shadow complex is just much higher quality in every way. Enemies in the background, 2.5D perspective, more content imo, and it doesn't feature some fucking hipstee with dreadlocks that obtains god powers because he realized hes too smart for the universe.
Shadow complex may star nathan drake .5 but at least hes not a fucking insufferable, pretentious faggot like axion verge

It's really good. Not nearly as much like Metroid as Axiom Verge of course, but it's more platform focused. A lot of jump maneuvers and some physics shit where you have to platform upside down or sideways at some parts. Combat is basically just mash a button to win, you don't even have to aim at the enemies. The enemies are more like moving stage hazards than anything.

well it's like a baby metroidvania, not necessary saying it's bad, but it's less polished in terms of combat and platforming mechanics and doesn't feature the same length as other similar games. However the music and story are pretty good. It would be an alright first entry for casual players.

Axiom is very Metroidesque style wise, but it's much more complex and has some cool stuff like glitching and corrupting.
Valdis is good, but I just have problems with the art style for some reason. It's also much more combat driven.
