Its like that for most games, good ost's usually let ya hear the best parts in the short ammount of time, like Pepper Steak.

>They have a unique battle theme that is really good
>Eventually they get to the point where their first move is usually fatal to one of your party members
>Every time they are about to use something like that, the music changes for the rest of the fight that isn't as good
Alternatively:
>Game has some good area themes
>Unlock ability to fly
>Every time you jump it activates flying mode
>Flying mode has its own music
>It starts from the beginning each time
>Landing restarts the area music to the beginning
>Sometimes just being in a menu then backing out resets the flying theme
>The flying theme also gets interrupted by the cave/main bad guy area camp themes

Final Fantasy XIII has one of the best normal battle themes in FF, once it gets going, but most battles last less than 10 seconds so you never actually get to hear itbefore you drop the game
