>HORI Pokken Tournament Pro Pad Limited Edition Controller for Nintendo Wii U
Preorders up on Amazon. Are they saying Pokken is shit with the Pro Controller?
That looks uncomfortable as fuck
>USB
>25$
Could be a decent PC controller for games like platformers.
>>321282880
It's modeled after the arcade cabinet's controller.
Looks like it's be nice for 2D games.
>>321282880
I used this thing at one of the arcade cabinets. It felt awful in my hands.
I think it's pretty dumb, but this is probably the only wired Wii U controller that isn't the gamecube one for Smash. Pretty much required for competitive play.
I'm just surprised this game does not have fightstick. Why a d-pad? What about analogue stick support?
>>321284775
>Looks like it's be nice for 2D games
Only compatible with Pokken.
>>321282880
They want it to be a tournament game and tourney players usually prefer wired to wireless
>>321285472
I'm tired of this bullshit. Having a Wii or a Wii U means you suddenly have 40 more controllers than anyone else.
>>321282880
The Pro pad will definitely be fine.
This is the pad they use in arcades though so if you want the TRUE arcade experience you can grab that.

Even the people in the arcades don't want that experience.
>>321285472
If it is a classic controller like HORI gamecube knockoffs then they work in any game.

>one arcade
sensationalist clickbait garbage.
In for 4. If it only works for Pokken, I'll probably cancel 2, or give them to friends who miss out.
>>321288564
I like how the writer implied an arcade game would do better in the West
that controller looks like shit
>>321289259
You have bad taste.
>>321285390
> Pretty much required for competitive play
Why? Pro controller looks more comfy too
>>321291090
It's because the pro controller is wireless. Wireless means it can get disconnected, and that there is a little bit of lag on inputs.
If the pro controller could hook onto the wiiu directly, there would be no problem.
>>321285472
That's so fucking stupid.
If Nintendo were smart, they'd make the GCN controller compatible with all of their first-party games. Same as this.
>>321288972
It only works for Pokken. Stop expecting specialized controllers made for specific games to be usable in different games, it makes no sense.
Would you buy a fight stick and expect it to work for Super Mario Bros 3?
>>321282880
Amazon description says that player 1 has to use the gamepad
So I assume the controller only works as a player 2 controller
Also it said it was only compatible with pokken, so no nsmb Wii u etc.
>>321293378
Sure, why not? They are all digital input devices.
I can use my arcade stick in Hard Corps Uprising and pretty much any PC game.
>>321293378
Anon I have played Mario Tennis 64 with a stick. Anything should be possible.
>>321293378
>Would you buy a fight stick and expect it to work for Super Mario Bros 3?
Uhh...
>>321285580
Oh god this this this
Stop shitting out new controllers like they were cakes Nintendo
>>321293948
That's not a fight stick idiot.
>>321294104
>>321294198
Why is this shit fucking allowed?
Nintendo had no business designing the GamePad the way they did. Should've let you turn it off while you use other controllers. In addition to this, their other controllers, like this and the Gamecube controller adapter, should be compatible with all games.
Fucking morons.
Thing looks sleek as fuck. Would buy and use withStreet Fighter V port for NXBut actually kind of confused why they designed this for Pokken. Why wouldnt you have an analog stick in a game where you move in 3D space? Dpads are only optimal with a 2D fighting game. This shit makes no sense
>>321294104
>a controller designed to replicate an arcade joystick + buttons
>>321292974
>little big of lag on inputs
All the controllers on the Wii U have the same input lag, shut up.
>>321294594
The wired GCN by nature has less input lag.
>>321294478
>Dpads are only optimal with a 2D fighting game
I find VF, DoA, Tekken, and SC more comfortable on the d-pad.
>>321294478
See >>321294862
Also I think the dpad is meant for the 'dual mode' or whatever it's called where you and the opponent are suddenly fighting on a 2D plane
