What's a good modern diablo clone?
I burned out of 2

Grim Dawn is the best so far in terms of singleplayer, Path of Exile is fun but you pretty much need to play online and the skill tree is quite hard to get your head around at first.
I really wish there were Diablo-like games and not Diablo 2-like games.

Marvel heroes it's from the same guy

>Found the D1 HD mod thingy
>Play D1 for fucking weeks non stop
>Find eastern sun mod for D2
>Now stuck playing D2
Its amazing how well done the fundamentals were, so little is required to re-vitalize the games.
D3 wound need a complete overhaul to be playable.

Path of Exile.
loot and character levels
it's "ding" distilled

How did you enjoy diablo 1? it was basically blizzard desperately trying to walk a tightrope between old-school and action, and the whole time I wish they'd just pick one and stick with it.

Fast paced grinding and loot. Min maxing. Planning a character and finally reaching that level and gear.
Pacing is fast and player controlled, can be played single player or multi player, randomized dungeons makes it not feel so repetitive.

This.

It's for rat-people who enjoy running on a treadmill.
It pulls you in. You go deeper and deeper, killing stronger and stronger monsters, receiving more and more badass gear by killing said monsters. Curiosity gets the better of you, then you end up in hell and kill diablo, saving the folks upstairs(or so you think).
Playing without the internet was boss. You never knew what you'd run into.

They really nailed the dark fantasy atmosphere, the soundtrack is perfect, you don't see very far and light radius is an actual thing. I think the pacing in the action was very good for the setting.

Click a million times to obtain items that most of the time are only slightly better than the ones you have. Repeat until you get bored

Diablo 3

Dunno, never understood the appeal of those games. Played both Diablo 1 and 2 for little more than a couple of hours and then got bored of them.
I guess some people get addicted to obtaining shiny loot even if the gameplay is a bit dull.
