You're not wrong. Back in like the summer of 2000/2001(?) Cartoon Network had this awesome idea to marathon a ton of pilots for cartoons and the audience could vote on which pilot they liked the most by either phone or on their website. The top two shows on the voting polls were the shows to get greenlit for air on the network. The winners of this marathon voting poll were Kids Next Door and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. It was an excellent pay off considering both shows lasted a good 8 years on the network before they ended.

In the year 2000 Cartoon Network had a thing called the Big Pick where people voted for their favorite cartoons out of a line up of pilots.
Billy and Many won the first one and Kids Next Door won the second.
tbqh most of the cartoon piliots that have been recovered were pretty shit. The only one I feel bad for is Longhair & Doubledome, as the creator made two pilots and an attempt to get it picked up. The show was beautifully animated and had some potential.

Robot Jones had potential, though it's eighties references (such as a cameo of the Rubik cube mascot) went over it's target audience's heads. What killed it was the decision to change Robot's computer voice. For whatever reason everyone hated it, including me.

Robot jones was made for entirely the wrong audience. It took place in the 70's with all sorts of references... that kids wouldn't even remotely get. Also, it was jarring as fuck when they switched out the MC's voice from the pilot to the series.
