Paper Mario 64 is just as good if not better in some ways. And while it's a change in gameplay, Super Paper Mario is also still a great game, having in my opinion the best story of the 3, and a lot of enjoyable parts, with the writing/humor still at the same quality.
Sticker Star is the only "bad" Paper Mario game.
I exclusively listen to this game's soundtrack when I do my homework.

Backtracking on it never bothered me. Expect in chapter 2 I guess but even then it's a short sequence. The spooky level had the most backtracking but I enjoyed it because the forest was comfy.

There definitely is an assload of padding and many sequences kill any possibility of a replay for me, but I'd definitely rate it 8 to 8.5 when the rest of TTYD manages to outshine the shortcomings.

Gameplay could have been better and 3D gimmick is shit but the writing and plot are almost on par with TTYD. Honestly I prefer this one over N64. TTYD is one of my favorite games of all time though.

Paper is better in a lot of ways. The problem really is that Super Mario RPG is a Square game with Mario characters. It's good but Paper and TTYD has way more heart to them in my opinion. Not saying it's bad I mean it's made by Square during a time when they can do no wrong. But don't go playing it looking for something like Paper Mario.
The only real issue I have with N64 is how it has a cap. I don't really play danger Mario but I care way more about BP and slightly more FP than HP. If they took off the cap I might enjoy Paper Mario more.

Besides the obvious, it's got slow as molasses gameplay (and no challenge), barely thought out features like the enemy cards, and is most areas/NPCs are horribly designed. The story is also overbearing and unnecessary.
