I'd say Raiden and Solid are about equal. Solid Snake was bred for war and knew nothing but it from a young age. Raiden was torn from a normal life and learned to enjoy all the killing through horrid brainwashing. Ultimately both men chose to continue fighting however for the greater good.

True enough, but it had to be earned. Remember that after MGS2 Raiden was plagued by resurfacing memories of Liberia and coped by just getting into random fights at bars and getting distant to Rose.
Again though I think it's rather equal. Raiden spent an unknown amount of time being a civilian before going into "FOXHOUND," and after Zanzibar Land he stayed in Alaska mushing dogs and drinking. Both characters found love, Snake with Meryl and Raiden with Rose, but both men had no idea how to love so they left their women going back to join the fight.
