You're a fucking retard.

This, unless your computer is really a toaster.
Reflex is Quake but smoother and generally prettier, Unreal Tournament is free UT and it's great
>>
>>321228976
Its been a while since I booted it up, apparently the old launcher is dead and now you have to buy it on steam?

How populated is it? I mean it was pretty dead before and this must have made it worse right?

I wouldnt pay $10 to find out, but I might pay $2
>>

cant run ut4 on an hd3000 and reflex is a million dollars

1k players daily. Not bad for a game this age.
Game was free for previous owners, by the way.
>>321229343
It's still free if you had an account.

The point is that it's not valve's fault, dumdum.

hey you're right, it isn't free anymore.

no. it's not worth it.
>>
>>321230807

it's two dollars and removes the bullshit subscription system and adds integrated steam features. it's cheaper than fucking quake 3 is on steam and unless you play cpm then theres no reason to have quake 3 over this.
>>
reflex is like $5
>>
>>321229013
UT4 sucks and Reflex is deader than CPMA.

>>
>>321231660

it's still a feature in the game but none of the servers actually use it, so it doesn't matter. oh yeah, and now people actually own the servers they host, they aren't rented out shit. the game is just a more featured vq3, so unless you play cmpa then there's really no reason to have q3 over live.
>>
>>321228871
halariously i did noticed it was $10 on steam but it says that it in my library for download since i did download it early during the time when it had loadout that time so i did got the game for free
>>
quake live is fucking dog shit and anyone who thinks it's good has never played q3a

>>
downloading UT now, because quake live servers went to shit
>>
>>321232909
yea but thats a pretty big fuckup when you think about the target market

people who play games like quake and UT grew up on them when micro transactions were not a thing and, on the whole, probably find the concept more offensive than the average person

video games have changed m8, and the audience they are after has not changed with them
>>
Can I make UT run on a laptop?

maybe they will make it free again someday

Quake live got fucked, it's no longer the same game that quake 3 arena was and it's not that good.

If you want great quake style arena shooter ,get Reflex. It's 5 bucks and it's developed by the guys who worked on CPMA for quake 3 arena. Also a ton of old quake 3 players migrated there from quake live. The game is faster paced and the movement is amazing. The community is small but it's growing, when I got in I could only get 1v1s, now there are arena tdm, ctf and race servers populated every evening. The game is early access but the devs are working hard as fuck pushing content really fast and the gameplay part is pretty much done, they are now working on social features, matchmaking, tutorials and more graphical assets. Also the game has an amazing map editor if you are into that kind of thing and steam workshop support is coming.

There is a christmas event going on right now at arenafps channel on twitch so you can check out some gameplay.

>>321233691

We're talking Bethesda here, the same company that advertises Doom and Quake as "Bethesda classics."
>>
>>321234037
But can it run on a toaster? And I am talking a real proper toaster.
>>
>>321234037

yeah i bought it yesterday im an arena fps noob but im having a lot of fun.
>>
Isn't Reflex deader than Quake
>>
>>321233353
I grew up with UT and Quak and I don't give a shit that somebody will get a cosmetic item as a revard for backing the game. Contain your autism, anon.
>>
>>321234349
Probably about the same. At today's peak there was 103 people playing which is pretty dead but I can pretty much always find a game.
>>
>>321234189
I have a laptop with 4gb ram, intel i3 and Nvidia GT520M. I run on around 60fps on that with everything on low except the pretty maps with tons of meshes lag for me. On my main machine I have simmilar spec except a better graphics and I can max out on Ultra and geat above 60fps. Also the devs said there is a ton of optimisation to be done so it should get better over time. I still prefer to play with everything on low tho, the game still looks ok.

>>321233353
The devs literally said they did the skins to let players donate while giving them something small in return. The skins are completely non intrusive.
>>
>>321234904
>>321234349
The Reflex community is not dead, it's growing. The devs even said they don't want to advertise the game that much before they have matchmaking, tutorials and friends lists in so that if a surge of new players comes in they don't get turned away from the game due to the fact that they jump into server with a pro and get demolished. The matchmaking is planned on next patch afaik.

if you've had the game installed on steam during the period it was free, it's still free for you even now. since steam detects it on your account and considers it "bought" or what have you.
>>
>>321238327
>it honestly doesn't matter at all, quit it with your greater than thou attitude about cosmetic crap your not impressing anyone here

I dont think you understand the point.
>>
>>321238778

it affects absolutely nothing, and is a way for people to support the game outside of buying other copies. people like you will find anything to bitch about.
>>
>>321238778
yeah your point is that it wasn't necessary back in the day and wasn't a thing
but these days it's pretty much expected to have some kind of customisation with items or character
it will never be anything but cosmetics and won't affect gameplay so no problem unless i'm missing something here?
>>
>>321230498
they closed mine and I would have to pay to play it even though it was on my steam

fuck these fags seriously I refuse to pay them
>>
>>321228558
Eh it's $1.99 and used to be free... in fact this was $1.99 yesterday too.. . None of the prices are gonna change for this year Winter Sale are they?

God this is such a shit sale it's just like the Fall Sale...
>>
>>321238527
fuck that seems cool
>>
>>321228558
I'm not good at arena fps and I get a little fun out of it. I got it while it was still free, but I would still pay $5 for it. $2 is a great price in my opinion.

Does that guy still post in /v/ that hosts U99, UT2k4? I'm thinking about buying U99 but have no friends interested in it.

im guessing that's why they closed my shit

im still not gonna pay them or ever play quake live again

its bullshit how they did me
>>
>>321238708
I swear this is bullshit because I played it on steam for about 2 matches when it was free and then I uninstalled it. Steam still made me buy it when it went paid.
>>
>>321239114
>people like you will find anything to bitch about

I know you dont understand the point.

>>321239275
youre thinking that the people who are going to buy and play reflex are your standard lol fallout 4 and CSGO types

Im saying that, inherently, is not who this sort of game appeals to.
>>
>>321239898
>those generalisations
you'd be surprised
>>
Reflex won't ever go anywhere because it isn't free and UT is free along with a guaranteed marketing budget when its released

skill gap won't matter, unless reflex changes its pricing model, it's kill. a new IP can't go against a free UT, not at all

>b-b-but its so good
doesn't matter. UT is free, Reflex isn't. It's that simple. Reflex's population is going to go from low to literally dead weeks after UT is done
>>
>>321239898

what point? the one where you make a baseless assumption and then when someone comes in and says "nah i don't give a shit" you just dismiss it because its anecdotal. i've played my fair share of arena shooters and couldn't give less of a fuck about these skins. they affect nothing in the game of any importance. what grounds are you speaking from? do you come from the kind of community that plays this type of game? this game does have a target audience, yes, very sharply defined audience i agree, but that doesn't mean it can't attract new players, and cosmetics are just a new standard that can boost support of a small scale indie title and have people with fancy stuff in game.
>>
>>321239762
quake live had absolutely cunty support long before going to steam. I suddenly got banned for cheating even tho i hadn't played the game for half a year. I wrote to support that the ban had to be a mistake and they just sent me a bot response. Wrote a few more times and just gave it up after that.
>>
>>321240865
I've been thinking this since UT was announced. I really don't see how reflex is going to compete with the marketing power of Epic and the game being free
>>
>>321240312
the direction fps as a genre has taken suggests otherwise

>>321241061
>that doesn't mean it can't attract new players, and cosmetics are just a new standard that can boost support of a small scale indie title and have people with fancy stuff in game.

lol, ok buddy, I strongly disagree with that, but you go on believing what you want
>>
>>321240865
They are at very simmilar points in development. They both have players. I play both. They are very different games. It's going to be ok.
>>
>>321228558
yeah for $1.99 it's basically the only decent populated arena shooter right now and it's actually pretty nice through steam the interface is better and logging in is seamless. i like

what are you talking about? you act like i'm preaching that reflex has all the makings of a runaway success. do you lack comprehension skills or are you such an antagonistic dipshit that you'll find fault in anything dissenting? people like this shit. cs go was pretty fucking slow to start but is now a top played steam game, if you think all of them are seasoned cs go players you are retarded. skins definitely got new people on board too. most past cs players don't give a fuck about the skin, if they did they're a minority or just plain hate cs go over 1.6
