And it wasn't a complete shit indie game.
Not scared, but I think Silent Hill 4 is one of the most disturbing games ever, from the hauntings that start appearing in your apartment to the victims that haunt each world. The game never failed to make me feel uneasy, really have to replay it sometime.

From since early childhood, it's just pixels on the screen. What 'scares' me is the jump scares.
Marine campaign on the first Aliens vs. Predator did it for me. And anything similar.
Nowadays, humiliation and 'loss' scares me the most, in multiplayer games.
But i do like jump scares and survival for their adrenaline rush.

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. Based on the World of Darkness roleplaying series, it's like a more amateur Deus Ex with god-tier writing. The gameplay is great until you hit Hollywood and it slowly grinds to being painful, but there are a lot of people who consider it one of the holy grails of PC gaming.
You have to get the unofficial patch though. The game by itself is unplayable garbage.
