Over the last month or so I've powered through the Eisenhorn Omnibus and the first 3 Horus Heresy books. I've played the previous Dawn of Wars games. I've played Space Marine and Firewalker back in the day. I've spent a decent chunk of time on the wiki and I've personally visited Relic during a fan event (I live locally) and own a signed copy of Dark Crusade.
I think I have a basic idea of what Warhammer 40k is.
I heard that Dawn of War is a very easy game to get into.
