I'm buying Verdun, have hundreds of hours in RO2/1. RO2 is fine. I'd grab it. Verdun looks good to me. Interested in WW1 lately so I'm gonna pick it up.

Verdun is janky weird shit. The weapons get boring quickly too since it's old ass WWI tech.
RO2's the better made game with a lot better quality to it, that said I've had a lot of fun with Verdun after having played a lot of RO2. It has improved a lot since I first got it, but it's still not for everyone and the small budget of the game can show at times.

I'm actually surprised people have even played Verdun, I've never seen it on /v/ at all. I definitely liked its ideas but damn RO2 just outmatches it probably due to dev experience and budget.
I have to recommend RO2 over it but that doesn't mean I don't really like Verdun.

Get it for sure if you want a WW1 game. I guess it's not completely shit, but compared to what RO2 offers it is. The only reason to play Verdun is because of the setting. RO2 also is way more immersive, with great sound effects, men shouting and screaming around you, and realistic gore. Verdun doesn't even have gore last I checked.

Personally, though, I find the gameplay of Verdun unique enough that that interests me. The back and forth trench warfare feels very different to RO2 for me.

Rising Storm come with RO2 now if you buy it on steam. More content and replayability since you will be playing on 2 different theater of war with different weapon and play style.
