I like the Souls games better, but Lords of the Fallen is alright too. It's just very average, and I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it unless you really love the genre (even then you might as well wait until it's on sale).

Shield on your back can block things was cool, and the timed strikes that leads into different attacks depending on your timing was a nice feature but other than those things it's pretty forgettable plus no real replayability and it's way easier than souls. I love the souls series, this game doesn't capture not one bit of the charm of souls games, it only tries to be 'hardcore' and 'prepare to die' funny, its not a good game.

Let me give you the facts about Dark Souls 2 if you haven't played it.
That animation is worse than most games that came out in 2004. The character walks like he's wearing a back brace and casts on both arms. The movement is so fucking stiff it hurts when in Dark Souls the animation was flawless. Most two-handed weapons when wielded float above your character's shoulder. I know this is small, but that fucking bugs the shit out of me when the devs could have easily made it look better but didn't care to. Shields also float about 6 inches away from your character when not wielded. Again, just shit, lazy devs who deserve nothing more than to get lynched.
Boss design is a joke, most bosses are just larger humanoids and the others are straight ripoffs from something else or just plain stupid. For example, there's the Quelaag ripoff, only this time someone fucked a scorpion. Mytha, the Baneful Queen, who's just decapitated Medusa, Covetous Demon who's literally Jabba the Hut. Demon of Song. I don't even know... it's a frog with a human skull. Putting a human skull/face on anything that isn't human isn't creative. It's fucking retarded. Royal Rat Vanguard which is just a room with a bunch of rats in it. I'm not even joking. You just have to kill a bunch of regular rats. The Rotten, which is just a bunch of corpses cosplaying as a pile of mashed potatoes.
As for the fights, they're laughable at best. Most are just boring, continue walking in a circle to win, trash. Most bosses can be killed without blocking or dodging even if you've never played a Souls game. I don't have enough space here to explain why every boss fight is bad, but believe me, none of them are notable.
Also, the net code is even worse. Imagine that. Lagstabbing is in and it's the only way you're going to win. Also, all thrust weapons are 6 feet longer than they look. If you want to beat the game blindfolded and become the #1 pvper, grab a rapier and spam R1.

The world is small. You can backtrack but it is not needed for anything except one time. Linear areas with 2-4 paths connected to other ones. A couple of shortcuts. There are lots of secret areas which you can spot quite easily. Usually it's a small room with a chest...
I'm a Souls fanboy, but I honestly tried to get into this game.
Besides the issues I had with the FPS (which I eventually fixed), I just couldn't get used to the gameplay. I prefer dodging over blocking, yet even with literally nothing but my weapon equipped, my roll was horrendous.
I should note, I didn't even reach the second boss in the game.
So tell me, is it possible to even create a lightweight class with an actual good dodge/roll? Or is this game all about wearing the heaviest gear around and using your gigantic shield?

Honestly not playing LotF with a heavy build is kinda avoiding the only thing this game does sort of well.
Wearing a huge motherfucking armor here makes you literally ignore some of the hits that would sent you flying otherwise. Also swinging a huge motherfucking hammer feels nice and the impact they deliver is really satisfying. The damage dealt in comparison to their slowness is huge too making it viable.
