The reason that some companies have such a huge fucking problem with high development costs is that they spend WAY too many resources on making games look as realistic as they can, and then when the game sucks oops studio is closed down or publisher goes bankrupt.
Companies that aren't retarded use advancements in technology to make it easier to make the sort of games that were more difficult to make before instead of trying to push the ultra realistic graphics as much as possible and having it still look bad with horrible framerates in-game. Even though Dragon's Crown is a shitty game because it's repetitive and boring with bad controls, its budget was only $1 million and it sold more than 1 million copies which is obviously a HUGE return; more companies need to look at games like Dragon's Crown (except the part where it's a bad game) as a role model.
