Well, Ben Bateman did the localisation for both 999 and VLR, he recently turned SJW and started altering dialogue to make it less 'sexist'.

There were two reasons: first, Sigma had to play the AB Game in 2074 to awaken his latent ESP powers and stop the bombing of Rhizome-9. At the end of the game, he finds Akane and he's sent back to just after the spread of Radical-6 so he can work on the AB game for the next 45 years. The second reason is for his now old self to travel back to his younger self's body once it's knocked out in the 2029 so he can infiltrate the Mars Test Site with his powers and knowledge to try and stop Radical-6. He fails and he's sent back to his old body in 2074 after young Sigma arrives from there at the end of the AB game.

Old Sigma was sent to where Young Sigma was originally to attempt to stop the virus from escaping. Assuming he fails, (which in VLR is the current state of affairs), Young Sigma gets sent back to his Young body post-failure (with mech arms after everything goes to shit). He then learns the cloning, robotics, and other things and becomes Old Sigma who then goes back into younger Sigma's body again.
I think Old Sigma goes back to his old body when he fails, but it's been awhile for me too.

When the Promo art was revealed most fans complained because the artstyle was too western and was very different from the bright anime style from the first two games.Fans were afraid western influence would change the game(see Jak & daxter) since they realize we are the moneymakers.
No one is saying any company is the hero.As you can see from the 1st revail fans still have mixed feelings about the new artstyle.No one will be 100% happy about changes & they might even still change things in the future(good or bad).
Its just fans seeing the art for now as a step in the right direction.If this is a shit artstyle to you,please remember VLR.Dio circus outfit gets a free pass because he was undercover.Clover is influenced by Alice to the point she dresses and acts like a dumb bimbo.And Alice,while hot;has the most ridiculous outfit I've ever seen.
