Fuck, I miss GS. Now the only local game store I have is GAME, and it's getting worse every day.
>go in to the store to get Animal Crossing Happy Homes, it's £32
>take it to the counter
>guy takes it out back, fucks around for a bit
>comes back out
>"we only have preowned"
>it's also £30
>mention that the website lists it as £27
>"yeah online prices are sometimes cheaper"
I'd rather just order it on Amazon for £26 as a late gift. When will GAME fucking die
>>
I remember getting Pokemon GB/GBC games and N64 games for dirt cheap.
I remember scrambling around the store, having dilemma after dilemma over what game(s) to buy, good times
>>321188626
GAME is dying soon, their stocks are sinking lower and lower by the day even in the holiday season.
Sad thing is they bought out GS, they're the reason we must suffer.
>>
>>321188804
GS staff were great guys here, too. The contrast in store quality was amazing. I'm honestly considering opening my own game shop and selling things at a non-bullshit price, just to get the local GAME to fuck off.
>>
>>321189000
If you do good luck.
I'm no expert in economics but I imagine there's some reason all the small game shops that used to be in my area have closed down.
>>
lads, if i ordered something off GAME when it was half price (total order £45) and the order went missing, so they resent it, but at full price, because the offer ended (total order £90), would I get £90 back if I took it back?

My invoice says £90 on it, but I only paid £45. I'm probably just going to get £90 worth of steambux if this works
>>
Will Jeremy Corbyn ban vidya if he somehow gains power?
>>
>>321189090
Yeah, I imagine it'll end poorly for me, in all honesty. Their brand alone would be difficult to compete with, and I have no idea what the ideal selling price would be to cut a profit. If it did take off, it'd be a good few years of stress, and there would be a tiny market here for a store like it. Normies and clueless parents are likely the only reason GAME is afloat.
>>
>>321188626

Just get it at Tesco, all their game prices are way cheaper than Game.
>>
Grainger Games > Any supermarket > CEX > GAME
>>
>>321189483
I'd be lucky to find a Tesco that stocks new 3DS games here. I couldn't even find it on their website.

>>
>>321189429

GAME stays barely afloat because of their "exclusive" deals. a lot of people will willingly pay £5 extra for their version of the game with shitty 20 minute DLC missions tacked on. the second publishers start to realise they could just charge EVERYONE £5 more, in exchange for having the extra DLC "bonus" in every store is the day GAME dies.
>>
>>321189809
Yeah but who'd replace them? CEX? CEX is just as awful and the supermarkets are downsizing their video games sections.
>>
CEX looks like shite on the inside, and is only good for when you want to buy your mate 10 copies of Brink for 50p each.
>>
>>321189919

if GAME died, we'd probably see either Gamestop make serious moves on the UK market OR Asda/Tesco opening "entertainment" stores.

either way, the future of UK vidya sales lies online.

Who remembers this? Started out as a mail order company in the 90's then transitioned to the web. Inevitably GAME bought them and shut them down.

>Never used mail order before but decide to pre-order Pokemon Silver because was cheapest there and I was a poor anon with little pocket money
>"Estimated dispatch time 12-14 days"
>Day of game's release
>I'm in bed thinking about how much it sucked that the game was out but I'd probably have to wait another week or so
>Hear something come through the letterbox and land on the mat
>I jokingly think to myself it's the game but figure it would be impossible. It was probably just junkmail
>Lay in a little longer
>Eventually get up
>Head across upstairs hallway to go have a bath
>Something at the bottom of the stairs catches my eye
>It's a package
>OHFUCK
>Tell myself not to get excited. It could still be something else
>Run downstairs
>See the gameplay logo
>FUCKYES
>Play the game until I've bled dry every single battery in the house

My town used to have a Gamestation, GAME, Grainger Games, Chips, a great Blockbuster and an independent shop called the Entertainment zone. Chips was full of bargain bin PS2 games and warhammer stuff. They got me Anarchy Reigns for £18 when nobody else knew what it was. Everything is gone now. It's just normies buying Fifa in Tesco.

>Chips

Are they still about anywhere? I remember one in Darlington seemed to last a while but I haven't been back for a while. They were pretty based.

Of course. I worked at you. I wads there when it all went to shit too.
>>
we keep our christmas decorations in an old Gamestation bag.

Every year I'm hit with the same nostalgia and sadness

They have three stores left. Even the one in Boro with Spiderman on the roof has closed.
>>
>>321203005
Still one in Stockton man. They've got a lot of good shit still in the shop.
There's a place in Middlesbrough just outside the bus station that's ran by ex-Chips guys. Really nice place, if a little pricey. Tons of classic gear in there.

I was talking about Hartlepool here, our Gamestation opened right next door to GAME, those beautiful bastards.

The HMV in Manchester used to be pretty good. The downstairs had this massive gaming lounge where you and your mates can just chill and play the fighting games on the Xbox 360s or the PC multiplayer games.
>>
>gamestation closes
>gets replaced by CEX
>another GAME opens literally a few hundred metres away from the other one

why

When I was in Leeds about two years ago there was a Grainger games, it was in the shopping centre with the Morrisons.
>>
>>321203395
Did the Chips in middlesbrough used to have another store joined to it? Popcorn or something?
>>
>>321203005
Might still be one in Bishop near Darlington. Can't remember at all.
Still a Grainger games there at least

Yeah man i know, it's what made me think about getting the console

Yeah, Super Game World, I went in to check out their Dreamcast games and saw Skies of Arcadia at £50. They know what they're doing so it's pretty hard to get a bargain.

I've got a decent local shop called Pink Planet. I once got a Dreamcast, Chu Chu Rocket and Shenmue for £40.

I went to GAME for the first time in ages a few days ago. They have tons of Amiibo and other plastic toy shit across half the building. It was really depressing.
